I think you have to go grey if you want anything right now. Even popular Tudor watches.

Maybe things will change one day but for now it seems like the supply chain= Rolex --> AD --> Grey --> consumer

I disagree on the supply chain - it’s more like

Rolex --> AD -->VIP consumer --> Grey --> non-VIP consumer

It's both, unfortunately.
Famed gambler Nick the Greek was asked once why he played faro games in LA on weekends he couldn't get to Vegas when he knew full well all the faro banks in LA were rigged.
His answer:
"They're the only games in town"
Now I don't know if I am dating myself more by bringing up Nick the Greek or faro.

And this supply chain is only small % as only a very small percentage of watches end up on grey market or at least for sale

Most of watches i feel end up on wrist and owners that keep/wear their watches.

How or why? I see Rolex producing 1M watches per year. Go to Chrono24...do a search on Rolex = 21k unworn watches

Even if you 5x that amount, its only 100k in watches. That's no where near Rolex's production for just 1 year

It is a mash up of a Brooklyn logo (that's where I was born), Breitling B and anchor and the Rolex crown a friend helped me mock up then got tatted about 5 years ago.

Here's the full tattoo,
