First time waiting for midnight with my Datejust

I confess I at first was a tad disillusioned that my beautiful instantaneous date-change function drag-assed in later than the stroke of midnight...but I guess I'm just a dingus. I now have read that a few minutes plus or minus is common. And, come to think of it, this is still soooooo much better than my quartz Bulova Marine Star, whose date creeps mushily through its change across 2 or 3 or 4 horrid hours.

Live and learn...

Rookie mistake that shows how little you know about watchmaking and watch assembly :) we all went through those steps mine goes at 00:06 but weirdly enough after a year or two it seems to go at 00:07 now

My datejust has always changed at 5 minutes past midnight.

My Batman 5 ~ 6 minutes past midnight and the new Sub 4 minutes. The Datejust did this a dozen or so seconds to twelve.

The simple fix is to have a watchmaker reset the minute hand on the post three minutes counter-clockwise than where it is now so the date changes when it's pointing to 12:00. If that's too much of a hassle, just live with it.

Both my BLNR & Subdate 41 date wheel’s change before 12:04 if I recall last time I checked.

I would need to set an alarm to watch my watch. I’m just glad in the morning to find that it has changed and that I’ll have another opportunity to sleep though it again.

For those who want to check when their watches change dates, may I suggest just setting the watch for a few minutes before midnight to see what happens, just so you don't have to stay up passed your bedtime.

When you're done, you can reset the watch to the correct time.
