Yachtmaster RG vs Platinum

Battle of the Yacht-Masters. One model in Stainless Steel and Platinum with a sunburst dial and the other in Rose Gold with a matte dial and matte ceramic bezel sported on a matte Oysterflex strap. Which do you prefer?

Love blue dial.

Don’t understand how u can justify spending $20k plus on a watch with a rubber band. Never will

Aesthetically I think the RG YM on Oysterflex is one of the most attractive watches in the whole catalog. That said, I tend to agree that it’s hard to justify the price, especially considering the bezel is matte (unlike the Daytonas/Sky-Dwellers on Oysterflex). There just isn’t much rose gold to see there. But it looks great.

Prefer the steel/platinum blue dial over the others, but the RG over the rhodium dial. For some reason I've never liked the turquoise seconds hand.

Not an Aquanaut fan then, I take it?

The price of the rubber RG YM is appropriate if you look at the price of the Daytona in steel or two tone vs the price of the same in the YM series. I like how it doesn’t have those end links myself. Not saying that I’m ready to get one though!

The two-tone YM looks great imo. If one could source an oysterflex bracelet and put it on the two-tone, it would definitely be my fav. (the steel crown makes it not look like a two tone as well if you change the bracelet). I’m not sure how the bezel holds up though.

The rg on oyster flex is one of my current favorites. I like that it’s colored gold but muted from the bezel. Makes it more versatile for me

Yes you are right. Not a fan at all. And it’s not even the rubber. Don’t like the shape of watch. I like circular shapes. Never would get that or a rectangular watch for that matter.

RG Oysterflex is so good. I’ve owned almost every model in all kinds of variations at some point and that’s the only one I regret getting rid of. Probably will be back soon.

I have both the Rhodium/Slate and the Everose. Can’t deny that the price point of the Everose is its biggest impediment, but it’s by far my favorite. Tried to suppress my desire to own it, but I just kept getting drawn to it.
I know there are a lot of opinions on a ‘rubber’ bracelet, but the Oysterflex is one of the best aspects of this piece. I probably wouldn’t buy it if it was full metal.
The Rhodium is also great and is one of the most comfortable Oyster pieces I own. Scratches are much more prevalent on the PCLs than on the Platinum bezel…I know I’m in the minority with my love for these YMs but I love them both…

I do think the YM line is the most underrated in the Rolex catalogue.

Of those choices it would have to be the RG on Oysterflex. But I ultimately chose to go with the YM42 for a variety of reasons that fit my personal preferences. Either way, these are good choices to have.

What's your beef with the SS YM?

No beef. Just doesn’t appeal to me. Mostly find the bezel unattractive. I think the only yacht master I’ve ever liked is the 42 in White Gold. But to each their own.
