What if Rolex had a bunch of old memos and notes from …

… engineers or the ceo which basically said something like ‘Boy, we messed this whole Everest thing up. Let’s just say he wore it. Nobody will know.’ Or even, ‘Don’t let anyone know it only costs $23 to make a Submariner or we’re done for.’ Or ‘look men! The future is camping gear. Not this watch stuff.’ Or, the war is over. People gonna be making babies and building treehouses. We need to pivot to hammers and and nails.’ Or even, ‘it’s a about time we went quartz. These rotors are like 50yr old technology now.’ Or, ‘how can these Grand Seiko guys make a case and movement this good? We gotta un-vite them or our goose is cooked.’

Would your impression of Rolex change?
