It's really cool to see an honest to goodness vintage watch in the wild like that. It is fairly rare. I hardly ever notice cool watches these days, particularly having not done any airports since early 2020.
OP, thanks for striking up the conversation and for sharing the picture! Sleeve polish is definitely a thing. |

I would never have thought that stainless steel could be polished to almost mirror finish by fabric!
My question is why does the lume look so white? Is it just a photo effect? In any case cool story and watch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Got it, thanks! Patina is certainly a mysterious thing.

To the OP really cool to see in the wild, extremely rare to see either in the wild. Love the zenith white dial. Sent from my SM-G781U1 using Tapatalk |

After eleven years under the woolen jumpers sleeves here in Sunny Scotland my unpolished Anniversary submariner is becoming quite shiny. My watchmaker friend asked if it had been cleaned up.

Love a sleeve polish.
Only time can create that magical shine. It's very different from an actual polish. I'm putting it in the same desirable collector category as tropical dials and creamy plots. It's a thing. |

It sure is. Sadly they are becoming increasingly rare as more and more collectors who dont get it have them brushed.

Too awesome! My neighbour who recently moved in across the street struck up a conversation with me about my Pepsi GMT. Turns out he inherited a 1680 Red from his father... Will be doing a photo shoot of it soon!
