Also a lifelong salesperson here. On the one hand logic says the prices have to come down sooner or later while on the other hand the people buying Rolexes are typically insulated somewhat from fluctuations in the economy. For instance if I have eggs to sell in order to pay the mortgage on the farm then the price of my eggs is set by the marketplace and I have to sell regardless of the price I want whereas if I have a Rolex that I want to sell in order to buy another Rolex I can choose what it’s worth to me to sell it for. The worst thing that happens if I don’t sell my Rolex is that still I own a Rolex. So the ask for these 71K Rolexes on Chrono24 is probably not based on need and therefore may not follow the usual price adjustment in search of a sale. I mean I am just extrapolating here, admittedly I don’t follow grey market Rolex pricing because I don’t want a Rolex bad enough to pay over retail and I certainly don’t need one.

Many ADs hold back their allocations from the past couple of months in order to offer them up this time of year. The January Rolex shutdown also plays a role in this.

Availability is not a problem.
Availability at MSRP is the issue most people mean when they talk about a "shortage". |

Have a few Rolexes. All but one are PM. What I was quoted for a Daytona-Meteorite on an OF...non-AD...was, well, breathtakingly high.

Bought 6 Rolex new from AD in past 15 months. Walk-In off the street, no history of previous purchases with any AD.
Could have been 7 but I did not like the two - tone Sub. Lucky ? |

Well, definitely I am the most unluckiest guy in the world, haha. Got nothing from my AD this year.
Just went to Paris last week and asked 3 to 4 ADS, no SS, only two tone RG or G, some with diamonds, more SS date just 36, 41 and no day date 40 at all, only have 36 platinimum ice blue. So, I don't know where all these incoming threads come from. Hahaha. |

got 2 from AD's both SS in last few months. Will never pay Grey price for a watch unless lower price than AD - the sooner everyone else follows this then the AD's will have availability in my opinion and maybe even offer a discount....

Many Chrono24 listings are watches sourced to order and do not actually exist. Seller procures the watch when an order is placed.
