OP 41 Dial Change

Hi guys

I have been told to expect a OP in the next few weeks but a green , is this something that could be sent to Rolex to change for my desired mustard colour in the UK?

Rolex will generally change dials, at your cost, to another that was available for that particular model.

Rolex St James in London changed the dial in my Daytona from white to black a couple of years back. It was super straightforward but not cheap! I was under the impression they’d do any swaps as long as the watch is only a few weeks old and the dial you want is available for the particular model you have.

Definitely can be different in different markets. I don’t believe RolexUSA’s RSCs will change out the dial on “hot” models, kind of kills the hype of blue Skydwellers, green dial YG Daytonas, etc. On the other hand Datejusts are probably a bit more lenient.

Re: dial swap for an OP... I can't see that happening or everyone and their mother would be trying to swap for a turquoise dial at this point LOL.

Historically they have changed it as long as it is consistent with the reference number. Ie. they won't put a green face into a 116610LN. Even if the RSC won't do it, you can probably find an AD to do it for you, and there is no way for anyone to know if this was done when reselling. This is what makes the turquoise OP resale values especially crazy...

and those black, silver and blue dial OP would be quadruple the price now, lol.

As RL has updated policy on OP dial changes with code Exchange HQ only on those fancy colors, so u can only change to same color if damaged, but talk to them if they might try to get you the yellow one to replace the green anyhow.

With the appearance of the blue & rhodium OP39s in 2015 (plus a few other dial colors), continuing with the black & white dial models of 2018-2019, and concluding with the current OP41 models, all of these seem to have been (or are currently) being produced in relatively small quantities. I'm just purely guessing/speculating here, but I wouldn't think that Rolex jewelers or service centers would be allowed to swap dials on any of these models.

Would be very interesting on what the options are with something like this. I suspect Rolex might have easily swapped out with a turquoise dial back in the early days. (Before the Patek sale.) In today's world, they will probably just laugh if you requested that.
