Explorer II: 226570 vs 216570
For those of you that have the new Explorer II 226570, how do you like it? Is the fit and marginally new size of the bracelet / clasp noticeable when you wear it? How about the dial, lume, etc? Has any of you ever had the 216570 and if so, what are your thoughts between one or the other? I have a chance to get the 226570 (black dial) or possibly just keeping my current 216570 (also a black dial), but am on the fence if I should make the jump.
Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to post pics of your 226570 or 216570 if you have it. Thanks in advance! |

Own 216570 and if I didn't own one would have pursued the 226570. Owning either will be same and no real difference in anything. To add, 216570 has unique movement of 3187 which is used in just 1 watch model and that's a rarity in Rolex lineup.

The black 216570 also has the "floating" hands, a tribute to the original Exp II.

I would love to hear from those that have owned the 216570 and switched over to the 226570. Thoughts? |

Don't have the 21, but I'm willing to bet that trading for the 22 will put a smile on your face and you won't look back. |

Thanks Ron, appreciate the input and love the pic! Definitely on the fence about whether or not I should just trade up to the 226570. Is the dial a different shade of black or finish altogether? It looks like a deeper black and glossier in the pic. My 216570 has a matte finish.

Love my 216570 and can't see any reason to replace it.

Glossy dial and ar coating underside the crystal make it crisper in the new version, shaving the inner lugs by increasing the bracelet width also make it visually more balanced.

Thanks for the info! Is it confirmed that it's a glossy dial finish vs a matte finish? Does the entire underside of the crystal have AR coating?

Anybody else actually owned both and care to comment?
I find the new Sub wears and looks quite different with the subtle bracelet change (in a good way) |

- 16570 vs 216570 - 216570 vs 226570 There are even very good youtube videos where the models are compared side to side and discussed in fine detail From what I have read so far, amongst the three, it seems the most popular is the 165, followed by the 226, then the 216. The 216 seems to be the runt of the litter. Many prefer the 226 over the 216, because the newer model has a wider bracelet, small and more refined lugs, and the smaller case. It seems like Rolex released the 226 to "correct" the issues of the 216. I own both the 16570 and the 216570 and intend to get the 226570 when (or if) my AD calls me. I personally cannot tell the difference in a blindfold test if I wore each. .

I've handled both newer models (polar and black) and on the AD waitlist for the black dial. Yes, AR coating, and gloss dial makes the black dial pop more and I prefer the newer hands with white gold accents.
Told my AD to call me for either dial (polar or black)...lol. 4 months of waiting and quote was 4-8 months. |

The 226570 is such a perfect watch. It gets a lot of time on my wrist.
