Is this a good trade for me?

Hi! I have a Rolex Milgauss black non gv full set that I am willing to trade for another Rolex if it makes sense. I know a person in town is willing to trade this bluesy for it. Is that a fair trade? My Milgauss has never been polished and his has been. His bluesy does come with original papers from 2000

I would prob do that trade if I were you,I would just see when or if it has been serviced,is it a full kit? What year is yours?

I don't think my opinion would be much help to you.....but I personally would enjoy wearing a bluesy more than a Milgauss. Bluesy has always been one of my favorites! Best of luck on whatever you decide.

That model bluesy is the older one with the hollow bracelet, aluminum bezel and stamped clasp.

it is more of a vintage feel compared to your Milgauss.

As for trading for that model, that's up to you if you WANT that version of it. But, most will suggest not pursuing a polished watch.

My warranty card says 2012. It is a V series. His comes with original papers with serial number but not sure if a full kit.

pretty easy to look up the current market values to determine if it's a "good trade" financially.

but only you know if it's a "good trade" for you personally.

sounds like you're ready to move on from your milgauss, so find something you really love and make a move. but i'd never make a trade based on knowing someone who has something they want to trade. i'd only base it on whether i really wanted the watch in question.

I like the bluesy but my hesitation is not knowing the service history (although my Milgauss has never been serviced, sat in a safe for 10 years and keeps amazing time), also it being polished is a turn off. Another hesitation is a i feel a bluesy is much more flashy and I don’t think I want that for an every day wear.

Milgauss will feel more solid. The 5 digit bluesy although nice will feel more dated.

then search for a watch you love and really want. if you have hesitation about a trade going in, then i wouldn't do it.

Well, have you always wanted a bluesy or only started considering once you got the offer? If the latter, then I would be careful about jumping into a trade.

Furthermore, its a 22 year old watch that you would be trading into. You could probably do that same trade with a newer watch and with all the metal intact (if that matters to you).

I think an important consideration is do you like two tone watches? I've never been able to bond with the combo of steel and gold and would prefer one or the other. Depending on the condition of the bluesy, the market values are likely similar, though the Milgauss is a little more of a rare breed and niche watch that could gain more value in the long term.

I'd suggest doing lots of research on current listings of each type of watch to get comfortable with the pure financial aspects of the trade. Then you need to decide if a two tone Sub will be more satisfying to you. As previously mentioned, the Sub might wear more like an older school Rolex. 2000 is around the time that hollow end links became SELs and if the bluesy has SELs then it would be more like your Milgauss. Many folks don't love the older bracelets.

You're better off waiting until March to see what Rolex does with the Milgauss. If they discontinue it, prices might go up. Bluesy price is not going to change either way. By trading now you are only reducing your optionality.
