Buying a Rolex Datejust

I’ve been thinking of adding to my collection and gave up on buying a blnr at retail. I went to my local AD that knows me. I also bought a BB58 from him 3 years ago.

I asked him if I could get a 36 mm with stick indices fluted bezel on either a blue, black, or silver dial. He goes into the back and shows me the watch only in the Wimbledon dial configuration. I thank him but pass since it wasn’t the color I wanted.

Is buying a datejust possible or am I completely out of luck on buying anything from an AD with minimal purchase history? How often should I follow up with him by stopping buy?

I think you answered your own question you passed on a watch.

Yeah, you’ll get one… just consistent and by every few weeks and chat him up.

I threw that in there since I'm not looking to buy and flip watches. I know a 36mm datejust doesn't get the same premium as other sports models. I am not sure if that got me any more credit with my AD.

You should be able to get one Datejust in the timely manner soon, just be patient and follow up at least once a month.

Just be mindful that a black 36mm will look smaller than a silver 36mm. I would ideally choose your colour then ask a few places to add you to a list.

Should be pretty easy to be honest. I got mine with a 6 week wait in July last year. Things may have changed though

I actually really wanted a white dial with stick indices but it doesn't look like they make them anymore. Same with a 36mm OP. How does blue wear compared to black and silver?
