Rolex Daytona 116523 or Patek Calatrava 6000G?
I have a Daytona 116523 black dial, and someone offered me to trade with his Patek Calatrava 6000G-001. If you’re me, would you take it? I know these two watches are in a different realm, but if you have to choose only one, which one?
Here’s some description: - Daytona 116523, black dial, Full Set, Year 2008. - Patek Calatrava 6000G-001, black dial, Full Set, Year 2006. Some pics: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have a TT Daytona also in White Dial. It's cheaper to replace the 6000G than the Daytona in today's market, I wouldn't do the trade.

Depends, do you want a Patek dress watch?

Thanks! Yes the 6000G is a bit lower in price compared to 116523 black dial. However, again, the 6000G is rarer (due to its limited production) and has a smaller target market. It would not be easy to find one with a good condition, at least not as easy as finding a daytona. The 116523 is more liquid — could cash in whenever i want to a dealer, and more people are interested in the watch. Although its rare too, it is still a mass produced piece (compared to Patek’s). I do like them, but I also like Rolex sport models. However, my current budget allows me to only have one of them (similar price). That’s why I posted the question if I can only choose one, which one? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

i would not but also i have no desire to wear a dress watch or watch on leather strap. logically it doesn't make much sense given how hard it would be to reacquire the daytona if you change your mind though, but if you're sure about it then it's a different story

Going by looks alone, not value or reputation I would prefer the Daytona every day.

Thanks for your opinion! Yes it will be hard to reacquire the daytona with good condition as this (full set with papers, tags, booklets, etc too). But finding a good condition and fullset 6000G is not easy too — the production is very limited. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

What else is in, if anything, your collection? If this is the only watch I think I would move towards the Patek because of the limited production. If you have a collection..that usually decides which way to go.

I would probably keep the Daytona.
The Patek piques some interest, but that wouldn't be a reference I prefer. |

Thanks for your opinion. Yes there’s been a love-hate relationship between watch enthusiasts and this particular reference. But to my eyes, it’s a unique piece — unique dial and superb movement caliber 240 with micro rotor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Personally, I'd keep the Daytona. As soon as you get rid of the Daytona you're going to want a Chronograph.
What else do you have in your collection? |

Could I recommend the 6006G? Slightly bigger case than the 6000- I have it on a custom strap and absolutely love it
