It was serviced probably 5 hrs ago or so, and I cleaned it up pretty good when I got it. Hard to see in pics, but the bracelet has a fair amount of stretch and wear/scratches, and as you can see, the bezel is quite worn down. But, as most jubilee/fluted combos…it hides years of wear very well.

As a result of similar circumstances I am currently wearing my dads explorer
Thanks. The new DJ41 is what’s on my wrist in that pic

Back then he wore a rectangular cased Hamilton. He died almost forty years agon and he' be 113 if he were alive today.
good idea Lee.

Thanks men!

What a great way to honor the memory of your dad. Well done Richard

Edit: your story made me think of how cool it is that one of the ways you remember your dad was by that DJ always being on his wrist. I have to say that when I hear stories like this it always gives me pause … wouldn’t it be great to be remembered similarly by that one special watch your kids or significant others always see on your wrist.

Beautiful! Love the DJ41! TT DJ is a Rolex icon. Love the 36mm as well!

Is the 41 dial a sundust dial or champaign?

His DJ two-tone 36mm, was what he wore daily, had it serviced a couple times over the years, and it’s what I remember seeing on his wrist most every day. Wore it with no cares, never babied it, and wore it with anything. I think that’s where I got my …being a wearer vs a collector.
I love the watch because it was his and it reminds me of him every day, and I’d never sell it.
Me personally, I don’t like anything smaller than 39mm for myself, so whilst I’d love to wear it, it just doesn’t fit to my eyes.
So…I thought I’d just honor that watch and him in my own way/perspective ….

So sorry for your loss. Very cool watch and I’m sure your Dad would appreciate your feelings about the watches.

I remember you posting about the loss of your dad a few months ago and the tattoo you got in his honor. I am sorry for your loss. The 41mm looks great and I love the 36mm.
My dad is into watches. No Rolex but has a 1970 ish Speedy and a Waltham pocket watch from the 20's. I guess this is who I got my love of watches from.
