Modern watches most true to their original iterations

What modern watches are most true to their original, iconic iterations? I am not a vintage guy but I love the history behind watches. So a brand new watch that is true to its original version is quite an attractive thought. The new Hesalite Speedmaster and a Royal Oak Jumbo Ultra Thin (15202 vs 5402) come to mind. What else?

EDIT: How could I forget the Lange 1 ??

If you’re wondering how far one should go when recreating something just ask Fred.

Of those that I own, I would say that the Rolex Submariner (no date), the Cartier Santos, and the Omega Speedmaster (Hesalite) would be most true to their original design.

Well this is the 1959 re-edition of the famous breitling 806 navitimer. Breitling, under new management, wisely reached out and partnered with vintage expert and collector Fred Mandelbaum to create this piece and nail every detail. It’s basically a 1:1 with the exception of the movement (although they did create a new manual wind caliber to keep it a manual) and some improvements to water resistance so it’s splash proof for hand washing. The exact number of beads on the bezel, the lume color is exact as delivered new in 1959 and the numerals are painted by hand. There’s just so many small details they went out of their way to make perfect and the result speaks for itself if you’re into that sort of thing.

Cheers
