Have a DJ midsize on loaner, may be fake, need help

Hi All,

I have a 31mm DJ on a trial basis for my wife. I bought it from the same grey dealer I got my DD, DJ and Daytona. My other watches were confirmed real by my AD. I just got the midsize DJ today and when I unscrew the crown and pull it all the way out to adjust the time ------the second hand DOES NOT stop. Also, while the crown is all the way out, if I move the minute hand counter-clockwise, the second hand starts going BACKWARDS.
My other Rolexi do not do this.

Is it possible that this is the correct behavior of the midsize DJ? I searched on here, but did not find anything.
Also, my AD has a certified Rolex watchmaker who confirmed my other watches as genuine, but could he be mistaken?

Should I just ask for my money back on all of these? I have wired around $32K in the last 3 weeks. I won't disclose the seller yet, but it is a well known online grey seller who has positive feedback... could they have been duped?

Once again, is there any chance that this is the correct behavior for the 31mm DJ movement or is this definitely a fake?

Thanks in advance!

I do not like the sound of what you are saying here. The second hand should work the same as the others? Stop when the crown is pulled all the way out. The going backwards part is really strange?

You need to post some pics so we may help you out. If it is a much older watch, it may not have the hacking mechanism which would stop the second hand when you are setting the time.

Serial number would help although I did'nt think the 31mm DJ was made prior to hacking movements. but could be a problem with the hacking mechanism.

Have you tried calling your AD to sort things out?

I can post some pics tomorrow, but they probably won't help as I know for a fact that the dial and bezel are aftermarket as my wife wanted diamonds on both, which are not available on SS watches.

The serial number is P373XXX model number 78240. So, mid-year 2000 or so.

With pictures, we may be able to still get at least an idea of the authenticity. Not completely. The other thing is being the watch as old as it may be, it may be in terrible need of a service and hence the wonky things that are happening.

Post the pics in the Watch Out section of the forum tomorrow, and we'll get the guys with a good eye for spotting fakes to take a look.

Obviously then the watch will have a hacking mechanism.

So if the second hand keeps going when you pull out the crown either it is faulty or you are not quite engaging the hacking mechanism. The watch came from an AD so unlikely to be fake.

Have you tried moving the crown up and down to properly engage the hacking? If you have then I am now technically challenged to assist you any further...sorry.

maybe post this in the tech general/forum or call the AD is all I can think of.

It sounds just like the problem a co-worker of mine had with his full size DJ. He had it serviced and the problem was corrected. As mentioned above, you may just need to service it.

It came from a grey market dealer. But my AD said my other watches from this source are real.

If it's a reputable grey market dealer and your others have been fine, then I wouldn't be too worried about it. I'm leaning toward the need of a full service.
