Timing Bezel vs Chronograph

I thought about posting a poll, but I'll just ask the questions instead. Which of these two common watch features do you find yourself using more? Which do you prefer to use, and for what types of things?

Personally, I prefer the simplicity of having a timing bezel. I lean way more into dive watch "collecting" than any other watch type. Having a simple timing bezel is great for cooking with.

Last night my oldest daughter wanted us to time her bath duration with my new watch's bezel. Pretty much made my night.

If all you are doing is timing stuff then it seems that pushing a button on a chronograph would be the simpler and more accurate choice.

Dive bezels only turn one way, so if you miss your mark, you have to go all the way round again.

Still, I probably wear a diver more than a chrono, and I really don't dive much any more at all.

The rotating bezel is a quick simple timer, a feature I use constantly for multiple purposes. A chrono is better for more precise timing and depending on the model, for multiple hours.

I own, use, and enjoy both but a rotating bezel is a must for me.

I enjoy dive watch aesthetics over chrono's. But if i was to wear a watch with its purpose for timing then it would be a chrono.

when it comes to timing, chronographs are kings.

But if you would refer to timing BEZEL vs tachymeter BEZEL, then i would see a lot more use of the first one.

I wish more watches/divers had a bidirectional timing bezel. Chrono is king until then - fiddling with a timing bezel is way too much work compared to pushing a button.

I like both but prefer a chrono given the choice…unless it’s a Daytona which is a pain in the a** and also barely legible. In that case sub bezel all the way.

Diving bezels over chronos any day. Visible in the dark, legible, etc.

The diving bezel is simpler to use, but the chrono give you the ability to track multiple hours.

I like both, but couldn’t live without a diver

I suppose it's situation dependent: gnat's ass vs ballpark.

For me, ballpark is good enough.

I use a timing bezel daily, when wearing a diver. Never use the chrono when wearing one.

Super under appreciated - the countdown bezel. Never used a chrono or traditional dive bezel as much as a countdown bezel, set it and forget it.

I prefer a 12 hour bezel on a chrono for functionality, like this THC telling me it's 7:20 back home and that I've been tanning poolside for 17 minutes

Except for a GMT, all my watches are/have been dive watches or chronographs.

Time something everyday.

Each as +/-, as others have stated.
Enjoy/ed using them all.

The IWC has the timing bezel, chronologically, plus and addition "split minute" in case I need to time 3 things at once....4 I guess if I just remember what time it was when I started....

90% of the time I prefer a divers bezel as it’s much quicker to operate and immediately more legible . But horologically and aesthetically I love my chronographs (eg Daytona, speedy, ALS 1815).

Another for a diver bezel.

I use it everyday to time food, parking meters, and exercise.

When traveling, I actually prefer it over a GMT.

For me, it depends on what I'm doing. And almost always, I would rather use a timing bezel because i'm usually counting down and it's much easier to quickly glance to see if the minute hand has reached the bezel pip than to squint at the tiny numbers on my chrono.

But if i was timing how long something took, or needed or more precise measurement, i would use a chrono.

Timing bezel is infinitely more useful in my day to day.

Chronos are kind of cool but often useless.
