Slight irony is Swaini and I are 'steely bezel' lovers, and know much more about about the 6265 bezel etc, and Suisse 'X' was peerless as ever!

The skein has been unraveled. An interesting lesson for me, never be sure of what we have learned. Weu can always do better. Thank you all.

Updated Events…
Hi everyone…
I know the AP crowd may cringe. But I decided to do a deal by giving up trade bait instead of so much cash. I will miss the AP but it ran it’s course, plus I was starting to consider selling it for a nice profit after having it for many years and not wearing it much anymore. I decided on the Big Red after confirming with the help of the community here and on VRF that authentic Rolex service parts had been used during the many service intervals inscribed inside the caseback. However over time I will still work on finding the original period correct parts it would have left the factory with. I really appreciate the feedback and all the help with this little watch! Thanks again! Best Regards Keith…

Congrats K - lovely 'non-floating' (i.e. Daytona close to subdial - floating have a bigger gap) Daytona you have there. It looks great in bottom photo too. Rgds P
* Example of floating btw for newbies : Rolex Daytona £93,329 https://chrono24.app/rolex/----6263-...GB&SETCURR=GBP

Well done, congrats. Happy that my ignorance has been useful to the discussion and to have contributed to your conscious purchase. Now you need to look for the right crown and bezel for your watch. Good hunting.

Congrats Keith.
While I'll probably never own a 6263 (never say never?), this has been a most illuminating thread. Wonderful to read the community's collective and very insightful investigative feedback.

I would hate to make a huge mistake because I didn’t address things when I felt something was wrong. Thank you @watch.hunter66 for being diligent and steadfast as it helped us to dig deeper to look for answers to the puzzle. This obviously was a topic that needed to be discussed and I’m glad pandora’s box got opened… Regards Keith

Big congrats, Keith! Welcome to the Big Red club!
The watch looks great. I wouldn't worry about the service parts, especially the crown. It's visually identical, and it'll do a better job of keeping out moisture/humidity. Over time, you could perhaps track down an original domed crystal and MK3 bezel, but not sure you need it to enjoy such a beautiful watch. |

I believe the seller was not kidding when they mentioned they had a lot of interest and at least two 80k offers on the watch from dealers/collectors. I just happened to have a relationship with them and have direct access. Plus by having the help of TRF & VRF and enough trade capital/value it helped push the deal through. Quote:
I needed to be able to trust the watch’s history and still wear it while waiting to acquire the original parts. Thank you for all your help as well on this one sir!

I always admired them from a distance, but felt I would never put that much money into a watch. I just happened to have this opportunity come along with the right seller and I became intrigued at the possibility of finally owning one. And I ultimately pulled the trigger on trading several of my timely acquisitions from years past for this watch. In the end I’m into this 6263 for a good out of pocket price in my opinion. So me going to one of the primer sellers of this model was never an option. Now I will just work on replacing the service parts that came with it back to original. Best regards Keith…
