1675 or 16700?
I'm looking to add a pepsi gmt but can't decide between the 1675 or 16700. They would both have a faded pepsi bezel.
On the 1675, I love the design more but it would be harder to wear daily because vintage is more delicate. On the 16700, the design is 90% there but it's more practical to wear as a daily. Has anyone else gone through something similar? |

I don't see any reason you can't daily a 1675.
Get one with a service dial so you're not paying the premium for an original dial. Replacement bracelets and Trudome crystals are available. However I'm an obsessive 16700 lover. I have a Swiss only Luminova example on Oyster. It's one of my favorite Rolex of all time. |

Very different watches. One is plexi the other is sapphire. One is non quick and the is quickset. A 1675 might not even be hacking. One is a matte dial and the other is white gold surrounds.

Why not a 16750? Great movement for you and vintage appeal.

Apples and oranges. If you're not a true vintage lover (and don't want to pay many thousands of dollars more), go with a 16700. It's my favorite classic GMT.
I have a Swiss-only A serial (very last in the line of true Rolex GMTs, as opposed to GMT IIs). Nice to have an original faded insert but also a new, more vibrant one. |

I would argue that the only aspect that they don’t differ is daily wearability. I don’t consider scratched acrylic a durability issue. Also a great example of a 1675 is twice as much as an equal quality 16700. If price is no issue there is nothing I’d rather have than a perfect 1675

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm actually ok with any movement as I care more about how the watch is designed. I was thinking the 1675 would be more fragile but I guess it's not after reading the comments. The reason why I like the 1675 more visually is the bezel and there's no white gold around the lume plots. I'm being offered a 16700 for $9700 which makes it more tempting. I have a small wrist and after doing some research, these seem to wear better for me. If I can find a 1675, for under 14k, then I might get that instead. Very close call it seems. I don't know enough about the 16750 but if it's close to size as the 1675 then i'd go for one.

For me...1675. Anything without lume plot surrounds gets my vote.

After reading this thread from Tools:
https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=45269 Made my mind up to hunt down a 16700. Arrived last Saturday, bracelet just went off to Rolliworks to fully restore it. Never thought I'd be a GMT fan, but this watch is fantastic on the wrist, slim, love the lug holes, just wears so nicely. Rolex 16700 GMT E-Serial |

1675 or 16700?
The domed plexi on the 1675 is “addictive.” At the risk of sounding strange, I sometimes find myself running my fingers across the plexi during the day. There’s just something special about it, the matte dial, and the “textured” plots. Would I daily it and could I daily it are different questions. I could but I won’t because it’s part of a rotation and I would like to maintain its condition. But yes, you certainly could. Good luck with your decision!

The 1675 wins hands down imho. The functionality on the 16700 is better, of course, and the movement is *slightly* more modern — but the 1675 is a far better looking piece, as I prefer the bezel and dial geometry and find them more aesthetically pleasing.
I like my 1675s to be service watches, as I value functionality over originality. I never take my watch off, so day and night functionality is important to me. Ymmv. Fwiw, my 1675s have had a fairly hard life — harder than most. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

1675. It’s a classic that will stay in my collection. I searched for ~3 yrs to find the perfect one. It’s not a daily wear but is my go to on weekends. Goodluck!Attachment 1357685

Matt dial and love of lightness... it would be a 1675 all day long over a 16700 for me even though £3k more. 1675 is totally fine as a daily.
The only benefit of 16700 for me is it would play to my horrendous indolence.....when 4 months a year you have to make date adjustments for 28/30 day months !!

Although I seem to read this daily on the forum, I think it's completely false to say that vintage watches are "delicate." That's just a silly comment, IMO. Vintage Rolex tool watches, in particular, were made to be very robust, and unless you buy one that is in poor mechanical condition, it can certainly be worn daily.
However, I also think that Aaron has it right, if you even have to ask the question, then you're really not a true vintage lover, so you might as well buy the modern watch. It has some updated features, it's less expensive, easier to find in good condition, and easier to have serviced.

If looking to choose one or the other, my preference for the win would be the GMT 16750.

Been loving it....such an easy watch to wear. Original Jubilee went to Rolliworks for a spa week, looking around for a Coke and plain black insert to go with it...such a versatile watch. |

I love both watches but I’m drawn towards the 16700. That would be my preferred choice.
