Rubber strap with deployant buckle for SMP

Hi Everyone,
Have a SMP 300M Ceramic Coax on bracelet. Have been considering picking up the rubber strap with deployant. Haven't heard any negative reviews yet but wanted to see if anyone has any thoughts before I pull the trigger. It's expensive at $250 or so for the strap and another $250 or so for the deployant but I think it'll be worth it given that the bracelet is ok, but I have similar complaints that many others have such as sharper edges and it being a bit chunkier than I'd like with no taper. My three watches are also all on bracelet, so I figured getting a rubber strap would be a nice alternative.

I have a Planet Ocean that I got the OEM Omega rubber strap and deployant for about $500. I love it as well as the steel bracelet. I find the steel bracelet after 3 days causes wrist fatigue. It weighs 200grams.
The rubber is awesome, light and fun. I just switch back as sometimes I have a bit more elegant need.

Just picked up the new 75th SMP and swapped for the OEM deployant on rubber. It's fantastic. I have Everest bands and such for other watches but really like this one. Zero complaints.

Also with a bit less thickness on the underside of the wrist, I suppose. I don't know if it's an issue, but the only possible reservation that comes to my mind is this.

I do love using Omega straps and deployant clasps on my Speedmaster Pro and my Aqua Terra.

I have the tang buckle on my grey Seamaster and the deployant on my green dial. The deployant is 100% easier to take on and off but when they're on the wrist, I don't notice any difference in comfort. If you want to be able to quickly throw on your watch everyday, spend the money for the deployant.

I switched from rubber to stainless steel bracelet. I thought the rubber was “OK” but enjoy the steel much more. I personally like the extra heft of the steel. The sharp edges I do not feel unless I run my finger over them. The non taper is a non issue. Both very comfortable. I also find that the steel bracelet allows the watch to sit more squarely on my wrist.

I will say that the rubber is slightly more comfortable, because it is much lighter. But again, they’re both very comfortable to me, and I wear my watch upwards of 14 hours a day.

If you do go with the rubber, I would definitely spring for the deployant clasp. I had the tang buckle and it was sort of a pain to get on and off.

Remember, there are different rubber straps for the buckle versus the deployant versions.

I would also suggest having an Omega dealer do the bracelet change for you. Versus trying it yourself. I have heard that they can be difficult to remove. Plus, they do this for free if you purchase it from them directly.

Just my two cents. Not a bad option having both. I kept my rubber strap. But if you absolutely love the rubber, you can sell your stainless steel bracelet, and probably recover some of your money.

Definitely plan to go with the deployant. I’ve had difficulties with tang buckles in the past and the deployant looks really good.

My main question was if anyone really didn’t like the rubber and it sounds like most do like the rubber. My AD asked for me to stop in just to confirm they order the right strap. Appreciate the input on having them fit it too.

Some of my reason for going to the rubber is just for something different. All of my watches are currently on bracelet and while I normally prefer them that way, I’m also thinking about ways to enjoy my current watches without buying something new, especially in this crazy market.

I also plan to see if they have an SMP on rubber there for me to try on just before I make the purchase. Who knows, maybe I’ll be completely against the rubber after trying it on and will save myself the cash. Told them I’d stop in this week and will do so unless a bunch more people chime in and say they don’t like the rubber.

My problem is my mood changes frequently between steel, rubber, and waterproof leather. I change at least weekly. I wish I could make up my mind.

I tried everything on my SMP before finally buying the rubber with deployment clasp. IMO, it is absolutely the best configuration and I wish I would have bought it on rubber from the get go.

Out of curiosity, which size did you go with? Small, medium or large?

To update this thread - I ordered the strap and deployant from my AD last week. Strap was available from Omega, but they said deployant was on backorder. But both came in this week.

Question for everyone: what hole are you on from tightest? I have the regular version and I'm on the second tightest hole, which makes me think I should order the small version. I do have pretty small wrists, so I guess I should have realized I should have went with the small version, but this is what my AD ordered for me, I didn't provide part numbers.

I believe I am on the small strap (CVZ015756). Omega boutique on Oxford street sized the watch on the tang and suggested if going deployant this was the size to take. I'm on the third-largest setting and it seems to work quite well, occasionally swapping it to fourth-largest setting.

I'd definitely consider swapping for the smaller strap if possible, as that's quite a bit of extra rubber overlap it seems you may have? Not the end of the world though..

Thanks for the input. I actually messaged my AD asking them if Omega has the small strap in stock and they said yes, they can order it. Unfortunately I'm guessing they won't take my current one back as on the invoice it says "all custom orders final" which this is. That's fine, not the end of the world, but definitely would have appreciated if the AD would have suggested the smaller strap. Thanks again for the reply.
