First Patek - 5060A!
Very happy to have acquired my first Patek, a 5060A, i.e. the first iteration of the Aquanaut from 1997. Was lucky to find a set with papers, a beautiful dial and nicely finished case, which seems to retain the original lines and doesn’t appear over polished.
Some lessons learned searching for this one: - The watch originally came with a clasp stamped “Nautilus”, as the Aquanaut was then still positioned as part of the Nautilus collection. - Some 5060s seem to be selling with a date wheel featuring a non-cursive thick font - it seems those are replacement date wheels also present in the 5066 Aquanaut. - I read on an Amsterdam Vintage Watches 5060 listing that watches sold via the “Magasine Genève”, i.e. the Geneva boutique, did not come with boxes - is this true? I am very keen to learn more about this piece! |

If I’m not mistaken, some of the details in the booklet also used the term “Nautilus” while referring to the watch. Congratulations!
