Strange winding sensation 4131 movement
Hi to the watchmakers
My new watch with a 4131 has a strange winding sensation. There is much more of a gear sound than what a normal Rolex 32xx 31xx or 4130 have where I normally only hear the clicks. This one sounds like I’m winding a seiko where you are hearing the cogs making a soft buzzing noise and feeling when winding. There is no crunching but there is definitely teeth meshing sound and feeling. 1 is this normal. Did they change the winding mechanism slight? 2 even if it’s not normal is it something I can ignore if it is winding properly? Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Just for everyone’s benefit. This is not normal, another new Gen Daytona was wound and felt exactly like the 32xx 4130 and 31xx.
The watch is running very well so I was advised to wait until 4 years or so for warranty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

![]() PS: the new calibers 4131 (Daytona), 7140 (1908), and 9002 (Sky-Dweller) all have the Chronergy escapement like the 32xx movements. |

Yes people know this is the case re the new movements, you don’t need to explain this. Why don’t you buy some of them and test them yourself? |

Is it possible that it is fully wound and it is the spring slipping? My new Submariner felt odd when winding and this was the situation.
Maybe wait a few days between windings (and wearing) to let the watch wind down and see if it feels normal? |

This isn’t that feeling of the mainspring slipping, it’s a gear teeth meshing funny noise. This is my 3rd Daytona if that helps with my familiarity with these watches. |
