ROO 43 Minute Hand Creep
I know this has been discussed before, but I have a few questions about it. Owned a ROO 44 and Diver in the past. NO Issues. I just purchased a used ROO 43 dated around April 2022. Right off, I noticed the minute hand moves between 0 and 1 a few minutes after zeroing. It seems to be a known issue. Has AP been able to rectify this issue with the new Chronos? Question is do i send it in or live with it for awhile. I've only had the watch for literally a week. If I do send it to Clearwater, what type of turnaround should I anticipate? Thank you for the help.

I just sent mine , I have a RO 44 rose gold.
I bought mine from AD in 2020, never had an issue until now. What happened with mine is that the minute hand stops at 11:25 pm , the second hand never stops running and after 10 minutes the minute hand decides to run again . Very weird Any how I called to Clearwater and they informed that there is an update in the caliber and all it’s gonna be cover under warranty. They got my watch today , so let’s see how long they take. Years ago I sent a RO and I remember how impressed I was with their turnaround but that’s years ago . I’ll keep you posted Cheers! Thank you JorgeCCW. Glad to hear they have and update. Look forward to hearing back from you when you get your watch back. Hopefully in a few weeks tops.

Mine started to have issues relatively quickly. Decided to get it fixed since once I see it I can't UNSEE if it that makes sense...
Prob turned out to be about 6 weeks until I got it back from the center |

I had the same issue with my ROO 43 and sent in to Clearwater. Amazing customer service but still having the same issue. As one member posted, you can’t unsee it and it bothers you to no end when paying for a timepiece of this investment.

Just got the e-mail from Clearwater saying that they will perform the recommended service under warranty. Their master watchmaker found that the cannon pinion was loose. They also recommend the installation of the enhanced 3126 caliber in lieu of a complete service. Not complaining about that . They also gave me an estimated delivery timeframe of 5 weeks.
Hope that helps Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What is the enhanced 3126 caliber? When I sent mine in, they performed a complete service which really didn’t fix anything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Enhanced 3126 caliber where the exact words they use on the e-mail , now what they mean with that exactly I don’t know. Previously when I talked to them before I sent the watch they told me that the 3126 caliber has been updated and that’s very likely course of action . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You have to ask for it - I have no ideal why. But it’s a thicker balance wheel from what I can tell and it seems to solve issues on the 3126. I had it done on my ghost when I sent it in Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

After doing a bit more reading, I’ve realized that I am not having the chrono sub-dial creeping that folks are seeing. My chrono does not engage randomly and start moving the minutes hand.
What I was personally referring to was more of a time keeping issue. Basically my main watch minutes hand seems to “lose time” compared to my seconds hand. As in, the movement is keeping accurate time itself (seconds hands are within 2 sec/day), but day by day, the minutes hand starts to lag behind and in a couple days will be a few minutes behind. It’s annoying as hell and honestly don’t expect it from a 40k watch. I sent it in to AP and they performed a full service on it, but still no change. Not sure if this new movement update will prove to be any different/better, as it may not be the problem it’s addressing. Thoughts??! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Oh and I have the Calibre 4401, for reference. Not the 3126.

I own ROO 44 SS, RG (white subdials) and RG (black subdials).. all have the same issue. In fact the SS had same issue again and again after sending back to services center twice for repair... the last time it return from the services center, I have never touch the chronograph.. matter of fact, I don’t buy AP chronograph anymore. Not a big deal to me since I don’t use chronograph anyway. It just bugs me when I see the second hand don’t line up properly.

Chiming in here as I may have had a similar issue with a different flyback chrono watch (non-AP) You mentioned the main minutes hand loses time - is your entire watch itself currently losing time (ie hours + date) as well? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Nope. It’s not losing that much. I’m talking of like the minutes hand not being perfectly in line with the markers but a couple mm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I just got the ROO 43 taupe and I’m having the same issue. The chrono minute hand creeps to 2.5 minutes just wearing the watch. Doesn’t move beyond that. The chrono works fine when engaged. Is this the easy fix that you all have experienced?

A technical expert at the boutique at South Coast Plaza said a spring initially used in the movement was sometimes insufficiently strong to keep the chronograph minute hand from moving. The problem tends to occur over time if/as the spring weakens. A taupe 43mm ROO exhibition model I tried on had that issue. He said movements produced in the past 9 months or so included a newer spring that functions properly. |
