NYC Market Advice?
Hi all — haven’t posted in a while, but I’ve long had my eyes on a Royal Oak (shocking, I know) — in particular the 15510 and the 26315. I visited the 57th Street boutique back in summer 2020 and struck up a “relationship” with an SA, but despite checking in a few times over a year or so I never heard a peep. I kind of gave up hope as wait lists only seemed to grow and there seemed little point in stopping by to see totally empty cases and pamphlets gathering dust.
Fast forward to now — is the market really softening? I’m as interested as ever in starting an AP collection, but I’m dead set on the RO for now. Curious whether those of you in NYC think it’s worth pivoting to the AP House and trying to start a new relationship or re-visiting the 57th Street boutique and re-establishing things there? I have no qualms in stopping by periodically but it’s hard to self-motivate when there aren’t watches to see/try on during check-in visits (unlike at Rolex/PP ADs that carry other brands). I’m willing to be patient, but back during the pandemic it seemed truly hopeless. Hoping things have improved a bit since! Thanks! |

I have been to a dozen different boutiques in 2023, including the NY AP house and the Manhasset boutique - all of them had exhibition pieces to try on.

Hang in there OP. I've been waiting nearly 3 years on the West Coast.

You should have kept in touch as I think you’d have had a RO by now - out of sight, out of mind and all that. If a SA has a RO to allocate, who’s more likely to get it, someone they’ve not heard from for say two years, or someone fresh in their mind?
Get back in touch, let them know you’re still very keen. Main thing is they’ll have you on record as wanting one for a while, as opposed to someone totally new. |

Check in again as the SAs there have changed and you may have been reassigned without even being informed in their CRM. Then it's just a matter of re-establishing your interest unfortunately. They have plenty of pieces there to try on now.

I visited them about 2 or 3 years ago as well. They offered me a diamond 15510st just days after visit and then a chrono Code 11.59 a few months later. I told AD I really want at least a Diver and never heard from him since then.
