New to forum - PP or Rolex?

Hi all - new to forum

Travel a lot for work and I'm lacking a GMT/Dual time in my collection.

My list was reduced down to three (prices approx as all would be secondary mkt):

1/ Breguet 7067 GMT (£16k)
2/ Rolex Sky Dweller (SS, Blue dial) (16k)
3/ Patek 5230G (27k)

I love the Breguet, but think the other two more "robust" and timeless, so focusing on them for now.

I love the SD - its my fav Rolex and I think a SS watch would also add a bit more versatility to my collection (other SS is a ROO Jumbo and a Tudor BB54, so this is perfectly in between).

The PP world timer is just absolute class - and the grey enamel is understated and adds to my collection (most are blue/black/white).

The question is - is it worth the >10k more for the PP over the SD?

I know I'm posting in a PP section, but hoping because its on rolex forums people will give a balanced view!

p.s. Curve ball --> Lange World Timer - thoughts?

The Breguet is better made than the other two by a huge factor. Way more hand finishing and no chatter marks on the anglage.

The tradition is robust btw. No problems here and I’ve owned 4+ of them. Almost every variant lol

Can’t speak for the breguet as I have never owned one but the world timer does not do daylight saving. For this reason my travel watch is the 7234g.

I don’t know what your dress style is but I prefer dual times for travel so my advice would be the pateks or vc overseas if you want sporty. I love being able to turn it in to a three hand when not travelling.

I would say yes to the PP being worth the 10K extra.

Do you want a bracelet or a strap watch? Also, it's hard for me to easily tell the 2nd time on the Breguet. The World Time is iconic PP.

Have you considered 5524. That’s what I have and I love it . But back to your question, I think the Breguet is a sweet watch but probably not the best visibility, specially in darker rooms . The Worldtimer is a classic Patek , I like it but not that functional , is more like art than anything else. So analyzing this with a cold mind, is like you have no other option than the Rolex . In the same token even though the SD will fit better your needs it doesn’t necessarily means it will fill up your heart the most

I wear a GS GMT when traveling. Super accurate. Safe for swimming. And not so bad if I lose it or God forbid, accidentally get into less desirable areas of an unfamiliar town.

The PP is hard to see and is like an art piece. The Breguet the same. Out of your choices I’d say the SD. Best of the 3 on functionality too.

Dial time isn’t the same as gmt which is different than world timer.

If you want dual time, I’d suggest

I vote this one below.

The AM/PM indicator is brilliant and super handy.

I prefer a Rolex to any that are mentioned and own Sky-Dwellers and GMTs. Very robust watches that can get wet/swim/shower/sea and when service time comes you will be better off both in the time it takes to service and the cost.

I love the 5230G, but for this situation id say the SD, the 5230G is also not as timeless as the other 2 options in my opinion, its more of a display piece to me.

I would consider the Aquanaut 5164.

Very different watches to choose from but here goes...

The Breguet is too extravagant for my liking (not a big fan of openworked stuff), the Skydweller would be my choice here if you can live with the size (I could not), 5230G ranks near the bottom of modern Patek WTs in my eyes (the grey color is ok but I don't like that specific guilloche pattern).

I think the just discontinued 5230P is much prettier (new pattern as well) but in a different league money wise (just like 5164 suggested above).

Just to add, when I travelled a lot, several time zones during most weeks, I never missed a travel time or GMT watch. That piece of math ran automatically between my ears. I'd also not get a WT because I find the complication very useful but because some WTs are simply very beautiful watches.

If the size of the SkyD is fine for you then I would go with that.

I travel every week for work and the SD is the perfect one watch for every trip.
It's "dressy" enough for dinner with clients, but then when I am at the hotel and want to use the pool, I don't have to separate from it, I can just dive in with the watch, no stress.
The annual calendar has also been wonderful to be able to rely on the date.

Thank you everyone for your input!

I ended up going for the SD....but now also going to get the 7067GMT to have a two watch travel combo.

I opted out of the Patek as I will wait for the 5164 replacement and aim for that...!
