Possible to relume a relumed dial?
My Dad left me his 1979 vintage 1680, but sadly had had it "serviced" at some point by some clown who relumed the MK1 dial and did a shite job of it. I've seen replacement dials for no less than $2500 (not service dials), but am wondering if it's possible to remove the poor lume job and have it properly redone with tritium. Anyone? TIA.

It’s possible and worth fixing. I fixed my dad’s Datejust up perfectly and I wear it much more often. Why not get some macros of the dial and post it, the guy in Germany horoluma looks good. Alchemist does a great job too. A 79 1680 may not be awful to find a dial for if you look often enough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

To echo Dan I'd take a look at alchemistrelumer. Shipping is a pain but its worth it to look at the same dial your dad did. A replacement dial is only something I'd consider in a no other option situation.

Thanks, all. Have sent an inquiry and photo to James Hyman to see what he can do. Cheers!
