Need opinion on 1675 gilt dial
Saw this today while looking around at vintages.
This looks like a non chapter ring, type c dial. 1.4M series. Looks ok? Weird that the asking is below market rate for a gilt dial. Just wondering why. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Nice to see a correct 24-hour hand on one of these for a change.

Check that the bracelet is not aftermarket, and the hands, particularly the second hand, could just be the photo.

Ok just an update. I went back to the store and bargained a little bit. It was at a price I couldn’t refuse. The final price was around USD16k. It was a consignment piece and the owner just wanted to rid it. If the story told to me is true, the prev owner bought at an auction at almost doubled the price. The vintage market is slow and the price has been slashed a few times but still no takers until I came across it.
The watch itself is ok. Caseback 66, matches the serial number 1.4XXX. The clasp is also numbered 66. It’s a US C&I bracelet. I showed it to 2 other horologist and no issues with the watch. The more popular Raymond Chung checked it out as well and advised me to change the bracelet. I cant rem the bracelet code he suggested. The current C&I endlink will cut into the watch and start scrapping off the letters at the side. Which was true. The Stainless Steel is barely visible and the Serial number is starting to be scraped off at the top. Had so much fun talking to him, but that’s a story for another day. The store is in HK. |

Yes, I saw the watch listed at over $22k. Thanks for the update. How does the dial look under UV light? |

Difficult from one photo to comment at all, but it looks like how I'd expect in general a ZincSulph dial (and earlier 'swiss'/excl/u-line) to respond to UV.... Eg bluey green declining to next-to-nowt in say 12-20 secs, and often showing a bit of expected reduced lume coverage 12,6,9 and some bleed in dark greeny/brown around the markers.
I don't have a type c '66 though to compare. Sure amongst Haywood/TTG/Springer et al have got one to check lume response. If it's on the button, seems that it is a gilt-edged snaffle you got yourself there !

Thank you for the kind words.
Need some expert advice on the bracelet. It seems the endlink 82 is pretty hard to find. Anyone knows if using endlink 80 will be able to fit as well compared to 82? Thank you. |

There is one available on Ebay but the price probably shooed off. Yes, 80 end link is proper and should have the same fit provided it was not previously adjusted to a watch.. |

Congrats on the find! Was this in Chungking Mansion TST?
82 endlinks for Tudor, 80 endlinks for Rolex. However, the correct endlinks for a 1675 are 58 endlinks on a 7206. |
