This is a very unusual practice. I've not heard of deposits being in use for a long, long time.
It seems a few things must be changing, likely due to a change in demand and an increase in supply. My AD (UK) told me last week that their process has changed slightly, and that now they know how many watches they are getting that financial year in advance, i.e 6 GMT Master II BLNR's, 4 SS Daytonas etc. Then each week, they get a full list of what is arriving in the next shipment. Rather than them not having a clue what is arriving. |
