Serious question, do you handle other areas of your life like this? Relationships, cars, houses? If the answer is yes, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, you may need to have a chat with a professional, if only for your own long term wellbeing!

Congratulations on the new watch.
Just cars sometimes - thanks!

Based on your history, I’ll bet the BLNR will be gone shortly!

Completely understand that thinking. The good thing about my current situation, if I did that, I can kiss my AD relationship good bye! Out of all the watches I have had, this one is by far the hardest to get. I can’t make the same mistake again. Need to add moving forward or drop out of the game.

I don't agree with this point of view. Why wouldn't the forum have influence on you? Almost everything we purchase in the world is influenced by something - brand, word of mouth, advertising or associations.

Part of the fun of this hobby is trying out new watches getting people's opinion then discovering for yourself if it's true. I was personally influenced by the OP "the black sub is all you need." But he really only justified what I wanted to hear.

But when I had the sub after a few months I found it boring, but you won't know that until it's on your wrist. It's the journey and discovery that makes this fun in some ways. If we all knew exactly the watch we wanted it's not really a hobby then it's buying a toothbrush, something I never think about.

It's pretty simple really. I buy the watches I like, not the ones the internet tells me to. Thats why my 'nicest' watch is a GP Laureato. I don't give a rats ass about value retention or what's hot, I buy watches I like, even if they depreciate in value.

Most Rolex people buy on hype (in other words, buying what loads of other people like) and then wonder why they don’t love their new luxury trinket, after a few months of ownership.

Maybe if OP took time to understand what he really likes, and stops buying watches he then sells within a year, he may work out what he really likes and may even end up with something he likes, you know, for the long term!

Massive generalisation, and here's another:

Most people buy a Rolex to show off and / or to impress others.

I have to say, JRell, you have definitely accepted responsibility for every bit of your collecting journey and even done it with some grace (especially given the expected remarks in this thread). That being said, congrats!

Oh it’s fine - this is an open forum and appreciate all opinions. Thank you for the kind words!

Crazy Journey

I love it when people come on a forum with thousands of people to proclaim that they don’t care what anyone thinks.

As an aside, my husband tried on a GO Laureato at Wempe and said it was one of the nicest and most comfortable watches he’s ever tried. And he’s tried a lot. He didn’t make the purchase. But he still talks about how nice of a watch it is.

Keep it for about year (if you can manage that long,) flip it for the Black Daytona as part of a trade, & don't look back.

It's an incredible watch, punches far higher than it's secondary market price.
