Vintage Perpetual with Baguette Diamonds?

Hi Everyone

I'm new here. So first of all, happy to be here. I've been looking for a vintage watch for my wife for some time now. SHE has actually found one she likes at a local dealer. The pic she sent me was quite blurry (attached) but I could see it's a 1950s 6104 or 6105. I have never seen this watch with Baguette diamond hour markers. Were these done afterwards?

Any advice appreciated.

Have a great day
Marc

If this really is a 6105 then the baguette diamonds are not original to the watch as the only diamond dials produced for that model used 3, 5 or 6 small diamonds.

This article has a section about diamond dial 6104/6105 watches:

https://le-monde-edmond.com/datejust...x-icon-part-2/

and, even though the quality of the photographs is poor, you can see a few different examples.

The rest of the dial is also suspect as there are a number of features that aren't consistent with other examples (for example, the second markers radiating inwards of the half second markers instead of being outwards, no fifth of a second markers, etc.), so I suspect the entire dial is aftermarket.

This is how most 6105 dial markers are arranged with the second markers radiating outwards from the others:

Thanks so much for the quick answer and this great article..was fascinating to read. So I can be very sure this watch wasn't produced like this correct?

Then the search will go on. :)
