Roger Federer seems to favor/like Daytonas

Longtime Rolex ambassador, so he obviously has access to the entire catalogue and has worn a lot of different models.

But I get the sense he personally likes Daytonas the most. He's been wearing the Le Mans quite a bit recently, he had on what appeared to be a 116509 when he was around friends/family for the retirement announcement in footage from his documentary.

In addition, the only vintage I've ever seen him wear is a 6263. A vintage is obviously most likely a personal choice rather than something Rolex urged him to wear, so again, I see a preference for Daytonas.

EDIT: Also, I think I can even more conclusively say he does not like divers. Don't recall him ever wearing a Sub or SD.

His 6263 is a birth year that was gifted to him by Rolex.

Oh cool, didn't know that. But still, the fact they gifted him a Daytona lends credence to my theory I think.

Reading a lot into watch preferences , but I like the contrast between his preferences and those of another contemporary legend, Tiger Woods. I think it's been rumored Tiger's favorite is the Deepsea, a watch I don't think Fed has ever been spotted wearing.

Kinda reflects their public personas and even their playing styles imo. Roger was elegant, warm, regal even.

Tiger had more of a cold, ruthless, and physically dominant approach and persona.

I think this is reflected in their watch preferences. Both legends in their own right, of course.

Yeah, Tiger loves the SeaDweller. I believe that became his favorite about 15-20 years ago when he became obsessed with the Navy Seals. He used to workout with some retired Seals and allegedly he even looked into enlisting to try and become a Seal.

I know a lot of the Seals used to wear SDs back in the day.

I remember reading about him training with Seals, but didn't know that's when the SD became his favorite, but I guess it makes sense.

I do recall some "insiders" speculating that eventually led to a lot of injuries that derailed his career, supposedly he was getting way too into lifting heavy weights and doing really hardcore training and workouts.

I think so too. He went too heavy with the weights.

Exact opposite approach Tom Brady took. Whereas TB12 focused more on agility training and obviously had a much better late career than Tiger, despite playing in a much more violent sport.

Woods likes his JCDS because he in the ocean as much as possible. He's into free diving and likes to scuba too. He wears 24/7 sleeps with on.

Great choice. The Daytona is the most special and my favorite watch across Rolex models

Federer, can get anything he wants, no waitlist or games. Bravo Mr. Federer
Rolex probably calls him to see what he needs.

I watched the documentary last night.

It seemed to me that he was wearing a SS DJ on jubilee for a good part of the filming

Lol, I don't remember him wearing a DJ at all in the documentary, I guess I'm getting old.

I remember Daytona and AK.

I remember seeing those as well. He wore the AK at the Laver Cup match if I recall.

He wears the a DJ throughout much of the lead up to the event.

I am pretty sure that's a Sprite. Specifically during the joint press conference he had with Novak, Nadal, etc. In closeups you can see the crown situated away from his wrist.

Agreed. I think the DJ makes an earlier appearance either in the interview or the limo ride.

He wears just about every model

Lol, I was having that thought while watching the documentary. That's like, what, 3-4 watches during the Laver Cup alone? He must have a watch guy that is responsible for carrying them around and looking after them.

I also noticed all the participants seemed to have signed some kind of goody bag from Rolex. Would love to know what that was, it was a generic white box with the Rolex logo on it. Are they actual Rolex watches given as gifts to all the participants? Or maybe a generic goody bag for the participants or maybe even VIP guests?

I didn’t even notice the swag bags

It does make you wonder what Rolex doles out. Rumour has it that Roger’s annual deal with Rolex is $8M even now that he’s retired.

I just watched this last night. Big Federer fan. I still remember at Wimbledon a few years ago, Mirka was wearing a Platinum DD with a pave diamond dial, Green Emerald Markers and Bezel. Such a gorgeous watch. Only other celebrity I've seen wear this is Mark Wahlberg
