if you are in a dress up profession, daily wear is a cartier santos perhaps - thin enough to fit under a cuff, much less in price compared to the others, and generally well recieved as a dressier piece, and none of the baggage of patek or DD

I’ll go DD white gold as a daily. I like the Nautilus but not as a daily.

I'd stick with the DD in the configuration I have over almost all of the Nautilus(es?)(i?). There are a couple of special PP's of that line for which I'd reconsider my position.

If you can get Patek Nautilus at the boutique (MSRP), you better go for it.
If you aren't happy with it, you can sell at a big profit later.

Depends on the activity but imho neither is great as a “daily”.

I had this choice ten years ago when they were trading at similar prices and just found the 5711 too simple and dull for the money and didn't like the bracelet so I went with the DD, but later I chose an Aquanaut 5164 over a PM Rolex and probably would a 5712.

I’d rather have a DD for daily. As an extra watch to an existing Rolex collection, I’d lean Nautilus.

I’d give up my day date before I’d give up my nautilus. Much easier to replace. Could prob walk into almost any Rolex dealer and get a day date. If not get one within a month. Not so easy with a nautilus.

Nautilus would feel so much more special on the wrist.
For a daily DD, I’d go 36 over 40 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

First off, said with a smile, I don't know anyone taking a Patek diving to 50m or more. Maybe jump in pool or light swim at da beach.
I own a 5711 green dial, and it really has a superior level of bracelet comfort. Not only that, nobody even knows what a Patek is where I live so it might as well be a Timex. I wear mine all the time, paint the house, mow the lawn. When I go for an ocean swim, ALL watches stay home. I also own an 18238 and it is very comfortable too, BUT kinda flashy to wear around. Oh yeah, one more thing. . .about 10 years ago I found an 18208 at the local beach, after the tide went out. It had been a rough sea the day before, and all the guys with metal detectors were out in rocks, scanning. I watch tourists with their expensive jewelry and watches go into the heavy surf, and then come out, less those watches and jewelry. I sold the watch for $5-7k (honestly don't remember the exact price), and donated the money for a local good cause. Blathering now, just saying 100m waterproof-ness is not important when when you get hit by a wave in 20 feet of water. I don't think 100m water proof is the definition of a "sports" watch. My 2 worthless cents (after inflation). |

DD. I'm probably in the minority, but the PP does nothing for me and in some sense seems kind of boring. Again, just my opinion.
