DayDate 40 - enablement thread

I am close to seal a deal on a trade towards a DD40, and would love to see some ‘enablement ‘ photos and owner statements.

- How does the DD fit into your collection, when and how often do you typically wear it?
- Wristshots of your DD40?
- Buy/Sell stories - Did you sell off or trade away a DD40 - any regrets?
- Everything else you would like to share regarding the watch?

Thanks :)

I typically wear mine in Las Vegas but will occasionally wear it to work or to select restaurants where I’m not worried about getting robbed.

It’s a great watch I love it.

It’s a special watch that feels special on wrist.
Only flaw is the inability to micro adjust bracelet.
Since I have numerous watches, I usually wear it for special occasions and take it often in cruises.

Love my Day Date 40, it's much more of a daily piece than I would've ever thought when first purchasing...

I remember sitting in the bank parking lot for half an hour contemplating whether to send the wire for this one. It was the most money I’d ever spent on anything. Well worth it and the dd40 is a necessity for anyone who loves Day Dates

My WG DD is my daily watch. I miss the weight when I wear something else so I rarely wear any other watches. The only problem is that I now want a YG DD as well.

Love the DD40 but had to let them go because i just couldnt get the right fit even with the 1/2 link :( maybe if they ever come up with micro-adjustment for it, i’ll come back.

I always up for enabling!

I highly recommend the DD and if you go WG it can easily be worn as a daily in all setting…shorts/t-shirt to a suit.

I traded a SS Daytona and a tu-tone DJ towards it in 2017 (before the craziness) and still glad a made that trade. It still puts the biggest smile on my face, as it’s such a special, under the radar, comfortable with solid weight, piece.

The lack of adjustment truly stinks but what I did is sized it on the larger side for semi tight/normal fit on hot summer days and when colder weather hits, I add a small unnoticeable adhesive cushion on the inside of clasp.

Interesting, im glad that worked for you. Yeah my ocd for the right fit was too much to bear lol. Summer time was rough. OK in the morning then too tight mid day.

I love the DD. I also enjoy the distinctive "clink" noise the links make when I'm wearing it.

You won't be sorry in the least.

I got mine for my 50th Bday.
I was never really an all gold guy but wanted a DD as that's how you knew a guy made it when I was a kid. I just loved the watch an it showed me hard work and you can make it.
I had always liked the white dial as it is a bit more sporty and I rarely am dressed up.
DD40 YG White/Romans.
I lust after a new Plat DD40 as I feel it's more wearable in todays world. I am starting to feel like a YG/RG DD screams rob me while WG/Plat more will assume is a SS DJ
I have to admit nothing feels like an all PM watch on the wrist!

Very nice reference. I just wish there were more dial options without those gaudy Roman numerals. Stick markers are better.

I own a DD40 YG black dial. I wear it in rotation with other watches. For a one and only, definitely go with WG as the YG does draw attention. If you have a SS watch to go with the DD, then I think YG has its place.

From my personal experience, the DD may not have a movement as highly finished as PP or AP or ALS or VC… but the bracelet and case is second to non. Useful complication. IMO every dream collection should have a DD.

One last thing, I went 40mm, I actually think there is nothing wrong with 36mm. People that say it’s a ladies watch, I couldn’t disagree with more. Having said that, if you have a wrist over 6 1/2, you can go either 40 or 36.

I have a DD40 RG/Olive, it has become my favorite as it's the most comfortable watch in my line up, it is surprisingly even more comfortable than my Daytona w oysterflex.

If the DD40 is on your mind, go for it

DayDate 40 - enablement thread

I know someone that had an unfortunate smelting accident, and I won’t go into the morbid details, but he only wears a yellow gold 40mm DayDate with a champagne dial.

Not a 40, but I bought a new, YG Day Date 36 in 2022. I was trying to decide between a DJ & DD when I first posted here. I went for the DD & never regretted it!

I bought a yellow gold silver romans years ago but only wore it outside of work. Ended up selling it when I moved because I was carrying two mortgages for a few months.

Got the itch again for the rose gold/olive about three years later. I wear it for evening and weekend functions. More subdued but still too loud for work.

If I get the call for the YG flat green dial I’ll be trading my BLNR and LV sub towards it.

What are you planning to give up in the trade?

DD40 is my grail, I wear it one weekend a month generally but it is without doubt the greatest Rolex I’ll ever own. If you can afford it, don’t worry about the price. Just enjoy

Love my DD’s….iconic watches that I go through frequent stretches of daily wear. Surprisingly (or not!) robust watches for all occasions.

Looking forward to seeing pics of yours when you grab one!

It’s basically my daily and hard to wear anything else. I just LOVE it and it gets compliments like no other watch I have ever owned.
