It turned out great Phillip, I understand the owners motivations but I would have had you replace the insert and I'd wear it - had my dads 1665 MKII you repaired on today, you do amazing work my friend.

That would be a great choice, I would t hesitate if I were in his shoes, that watch is way to cool to not wear and he can always keep the old insert in the box for historical reasons.
