5172G or 5320G salmon
I have been asking for a salmon dial piece from AD. Finally they have offer for both 5172G or 5320G.
Would like to hear viewpoints as I decide on one: As we speak, I have slight preference for 5172G 1. The movement is beautiful whereas 5320 one seems a bit more common given its Calibre 325 heritage 2. Dial is less cluttered (personal view) 3. Chrono is a typical PP heritage 4. Thinner 5. Cheaper and better value? However, a perpetual is always a grail for many. Also, I have the 1815 Chrono as well; a 5172G maybe somewhat similar. So, it’s a hard call though |

I’m not really a fan of either. I think there are much better choices for both chrono and perpetual calendar from Patek.

The 5320 salmon was the first PP my AD offered me. Although I really liked it, I passed because I felt I wanted a more versatile dial color for my first.
I also prefer AC in general… |

Why Salmon? It is a very cool color but if I’m being honest kind of disappointed how Patek has decided to use it so loosely for so many references. It used to be a “unique” color earmarked for special pieces and now they just put it on everything. I would get the reference you want as opposed to color dial.

Man I really love the look of the salmon dial. Wish it didn’t just blend into my pale/pink Irish skin tone. Put freckles on that dial and it would be a tribute to my skin.

I'd be happy with either, but the chronograph does give you more chances of interacting with the watch. A perpetual you kind of set and forget. So I guess which you'd prefer. I personally would go with the 5172g first.

Tough choice! Here’s a quick take:
5172G: Stunning movement. Cleaner dial. Classic PP chrono. Thinner and more comfortable. Better value. 5320G: Perpetual calendar is a grail. More unique complication. Given you already have the 1815 Chrono, the 5320G might add more variety to your collection. But if you prefer the look and feel of the 5172G, go with your gut. Both are fantastic pieces! |

When I visited the Geneva saloon I tried on a bunch of Patek. This was the only piece I took a picture of, felt perfect on the wrist.

I like both watches. I prefer the 5172G. It wears slightly larger than the 5320G. (It is about 1mm larger wide case diameter).
Also, I prefer cleaner dial presentations done on other perpetual calendar watches more: thinking Lange 1 perpetual or Moser's perpetuals. Or - albeit next price level up from the 5320G - the 5236P. |

Another vote for the 5172. I have come close to purchasing a 5320 more than once, but am turned off by the movement being small for the case (imho).
