Of your choices, I think the YM would be slightly less conspicuous.

However, TBH, it's still a real stunner IRL. You might want to look at something like an older DD and put it on a leather strap.

The 42mm Yacht Master is the most understated IMO.

That's interesting. This and my Pepsi are the only 2 watches that get noticed. I personally wear the 116518 when I want to feel flashy / loud so it's interesting to see others have a complete opposite view. Cheers!

Just got my own DD 18238. It has a black dial and diamond hour markers and was sold as only the head. From that, I put a black suede strap on it and it looks fantastic. I think it is a classy look and somewhat understated for what it really is, but those who know will know.

What I think...

Having owned a yellow gold champagne dial Daytona on OF, a 42MM yellow gold YM on OF, a solid gold Bluesy Sub, and a TT bluesy Sub, I would say that the YM on OF is the most understated. You are correct in thinking that it would likely attract the least attention, since for some reason the gold is less noticeable on this watch than the others. Perhaps it's the black dial, black bezel etc... all the others "show" more yellow gold than this YM. It rarely gets noticed, to be honest.

On the other hand, it's a dead tie between the YM and my gold Sub in terms of which is my favourite to wear... they are polar opposites in terms of being noticed yet they each have their place.

Get the YM in yellow gold on OF and wear the living hell out of it. It's a fantastic watch.

I know you posted in the Rolex aisle - but elegance doesn't really exist except the 1908 (and it's more bulky than I'd like).

But a Calatrava would be more understated methinks.

The best understated YG rolex is a WG rolex.

Actually it’s the YM 42 imo. I went in and tried them ALL on. The Daytona is extremely elegant and certainly not too flashy on OF. But the YM just was a wow factor of how simple and classy a watch can be on that style of bracelet. Feels like an easy daily that you can wear on any occasion. Definitely next target.

The most understated yellow gold watch I have ever tried on is the yellow gold Tudor Black bay 58. All brushed gold case and leather strap. I thought it went a bit under the radar.

I would go with the oysterflex daytona. I have a yellow gold Paul Newman that I wear all the time with no issues.
