Would you upgrade 15500 blue to 15202 or 16202?

Was wondering if its worth the premium to upgrade or not .

If its you will you upgrade and which ref you will choose and why ?

Upgrading from the 15500 blue to the 16202 would be a worthwhile upgrade.

how much is the premium? I have the blue 15510st and the 16202st...I think the price difference in retail price is worth it...which is like 5-10k difference. not sure if I would pay more than $10k to go from 15510st to 16202st myself.

from blue 15500st...slightly different story bc I think the shorter dial markers makes the dial feel slightly empty, while the jumbo is perfect in every aspect...especially when it comes to proportions. but still not sure if I would personally pay more than 5-10k to go from 15500st to 15202st or 16202st...

I would definitely do it without doubt. If there's only going to be 1 RO in your collection, it has to be the Jumbo. And I'll go 15202. IMO, it'll be more collectable in the long run. But 16202 is probably more wearable. Either way, it won't go wrong.

Without hesitation, the jumbo is the pinnacle of AP. IMO, I would go for a late series 15202, I don't think the 16202 should command the current premium. The delta between the two could buy you another nice watch.

For sure, it has great proportions, especially with the case thinness. The 15500 feels too chunky in comparison.

Personally prefer the quickset of the 16202, but I also wouldn't say no to a 15202.

15202 has in my opinion, a much better caliber fork a esthetics perspective. The balance shaped oscillating mass is my favorite design ever, right after the one of the VC Mercator.

Personally the 15500 is borderline too big for me, and if a 15202 were available I would jump on it without hesitation. I would not pay the upcharge for a 16202 unless of course it is coming from the AP dealer at retail price.

Everyone has their own opinion and its very subjective, but when I first saw the 16202, I loved the symmetry and the gold bridges. I prefer it, but again, so subjective to personal taste.

Im not sure if a trade for a 16202 is worth it, being that the grey prices are nearly double the 15500. Is it double the watch? Honestly I doubt it. The 15202 on the other hand commands less of a premium and might make more sense for a trade. At retail prices however, jumbo all day every day.

Looks like I’m the only person who prefers the 15500/15510 over the 15202/16202.
I prefer the slightly bulkier nature of the 41mm RO. It’s right in between the thin Jumbo and the overly thick ROO. The seconds hands of the 41mm RO adds life to the dial. And if compared to the 15202, the quickset date function is like heaven and earth. I’m not sure if I’m correct, but I seem to remember that the lug to lug measurement of the 15500/15510 being less than the Jumbo, despite being 41mm.

I do think the 16202 is a very nice watch, way better than the 15202 in terms of refinement and functionality. But the hoops to jump through for a Jumbo compared to the blue 41mm RO makes me wonder if the difference between the two is worth the effort.

I don’t think it’s worth it. I have two 41s and a 16202 and I do love and appreciate the 16202 but it’s not really any nicer than my 41s. I probably like the chrono the best but I got the jumbo at retail so it’s a different story- at retail it’s maybe the best watch you can get..

A 16202 is at the top of my want list (I just can't justify paying the gray markup) so I really can't say... It would depend on the upgrade cost I guess.

you are not crazy, the 15500 is a great watch, and imho can coexist with a 15202 as they are different watches. The bulky nature of the 15500 is what a modern AP is meant to be, and is still a legendary watch.

Regarding the quickset on the 15202, there is a cheat code to beat going around the clock many times, it has been documented

Also regarding the size of the 15202 vs 15500, the lug to lug is very similar (maybe a tad smaller on the 15500) but the dial circumference is much, much larger on the 15500 making it seem like a bigger watch.

Why exactly would you recommend to go late series for 15202 if you don't mind me asking?

What’s a realistic price on a 16202?

On the forums? I’m new to watches and not really sure where I should be looking. Nervous to go 3rd party unless it’s a reliable source.

Interesting, and we have similar tastes

I have 3 x 41mm Royal Oaks and love them all;

But as it's already been said (correctly IMV) the Jumbo (any model.....) is absolute peak AP;

Tried on a 16202 of a friend of mine like the thickness, but don’t know if I like the bezel to lug ratio.

I still don’t get why people say it’s hard to adjust 15202… the semi “quick set” feature makes it much faster to adjust than a GMT..

It’s not really a cheat code when the feature is in official AP manual for calibre 2121
