My vote is Day Date, but I suggest the green Ombré dial?

The model depends on your taste, but I would choose a Patek for retirement.

What watch would I think could age well the best with my age and styles changes? 5712 for sure. If I was lining all of these up at age 30 then the AP Openworked

grow old with the PP aqua looks good in any conditions you wear, also super easy to read the time as your eyes get weaker with time.......not flashy either

Among these I'd go 5167 but A rather than R.

With your collection, I’d add the 5712 without hesitation, (provided your wife can find you one at a decent price because you won’t get one at a AD).

Also, please tell your wife that your very good friend from Canada also retired, and would like a 5711P. Thank you

The DD would be the one. Obtainable without significant upcharge and a very robust daily wearer.

5167R based on the others in your collection. The PP chrono would be my 2nd choice.

5712/1a or 5167r.

Congrats on your retirement!

They’re all fantastic. Depends on how you plan on spending retirement. At the beach a lot? Aquanaut. In the city? 5172 or 5712. AP is terrific, but youthful in my opinion. I sold my Royal Oak last year as it wasn’t aging well with my taste. Re: Rolex day date - it’s a classic, but I have personally never been able to justify buying anything other than steel Rolex.

I have the WG with green dial DD. It's a great watch. I vote Rolex DD or Patek 5172.

As much as I prefer Patek, as a retirement watch, you really can't go wrong with a DD. I'd say DD. Or a PM Nautilus on bracelet. Nothing else.

Looking at the list, there are so many watches to pick from given the budget. From this the openwork AP.

If I were to pick a retirement watch, I'd have to have a 5270p, salmon + a 5164a. Depending on what I was doing that day, I'd pick between those 2.

I suggested 5167A earlier and getting the 1A makes sense for versatility if you add the rubber and deployant. Love 5968A but it wears awfully large on most wrists. At my 16.6cm it was borderline too large.

Personally I picked 5711/1A in a similar scenario like yours and have had no regrets. For a year or two I thought about adding 5712/1A. Not anymore. Legibility is important and 5167 and 5711 are right up there in that regard.

IMO of those the AP openworks is by far the nicest and rarest. You'll never see one in the wild except on your wrist :)

5172 or 5712. Good for you. When I retire I am fairly certain my wife won’t want me to spend anymore money on watches!

I would choose the 5712 / 5968a or AP based on your collection.

If you were saying "pick my next watch," I'd say the 5712 out of that bunch.

But, in my opinion, a retirement watch is just a different animal. I feel like a retirement watch should be precious metal, and my brain goes to YG. Of the lot, the Day Date feels like the best candidate for a retirement watch. Next up, I think maybe the 5172 - a WG Patek dress-ish chronograph is pretty fitting as you race towards the end of your life :).
