Odd question - Does this box look okay?

Dear authenticity wizards and sorceresses, I am selling a watch and am not sure if I should include the box above in the ad as I am unsure of its authenticity and I wanted to ask your opinions on the matter. The back hinges and a few other things are suspicious to me

The back looks wonky … water damage or some sort of air bubbling?

I bought it used obviously, if it came from Rolex I wouldn't second guess, but its probably around 17-13 years old or there abouts, it would be for a early 116710LN

It may be nothing, but it might be a tell as to how the watch has been handled as well

The color of the pillow looks different than the inside of the box, but that could just be lighting.
Can you take a picture and post it of the pillow from the side, I want to see the stitching?

I mean you aren't wrong but also my boxes are usually far away from the watch, def dont wash my hands with them :D. For now my main concern if its even period correct looking, I don't have other watches of the same age and never really considered this before trying to sell

It was handled a lot as for a while I kept my watch in it "on display" so I think it got a fair amount of sweat

Looks authentic. Old and beat up, but it appears to be legit.

Looks legit, just in bad shape. Reminds me of the crappy red faded and worn Omega boxes I used to get with a used purchase when I collected the brand. However, it’s not as bad as they were. ALWAYS include the box, when selling.

Having had a few Rolex watches from this era of box (2004-5ish to 2015-16ish, roughly) it looks as my boxes did. The document holder goes up about midway on boxes from this era. Newer boxes have a drawbridge design that goes pretty much to the top. The back just looks like moisture damage or excessive opening and closing maybe.

What is the number on the bottom of the box? Maybe post a picture.

Looks legit.

Rolex boxes always look kind of plasticky and cheap, compared to those big glossy wooden boxes you get from Patek or Omega. But it does the job.

When posts like this come up we are looking for details.
Although the pillow might be authentic I don’t like how the stitching comes together on the bottom of the pillow. If I can take a pic of mine and reduce size I will do so shortly.
Also the color seems off between the pillow and the rest of the inside of the box.

Yeh, unfortunately, Rolex boxes are junk. They age poorly, and tend to delaminate and fall apart, especially if exposed to temperature/humidity extremes like in a basement or attic.

.It's just a box nothing more and looks like the millions of others made for Rolex world wide and surprised people pay for them but looks ok.

Thanks everyone for the input, I didnt want to lead anyone into anything but I was most concerned with:

The hinge being visible through the cheap material and if that would reveal a different structure to the original
The font used for Rolex on the inside in gold leaf
The crown shape on the top

Actually taking pics of the box I saw the item number on the bottom, which I have never noticed until now (owned the box for 9 years, never flipped it over) based on that saw many on eBay looking the same. That doesnt prove anything but lends it some street cred.

I will update my chrono listing to include the box unless some super savant comes in with an observation. Thank you everyone for taking time to comment.

If you're certain the watch is authentic, you could always put a disclaimer in the listing that the box may not be authentic.

Yes, legit, just has some wear and damage, the fake ones you can tell glue everywhere, the pillow is hard as a rock and the lining is not uniform.

It looks right. Before box and papers were a thing I used to not store my boxes very well either so that box actually looks better than the box I had for a Sub I once owned.
