Help.. Submariner Seconds Hand Won't Move....
So my Sub (114060) is about 7 years old, worn a few days per week on average. I unscrewed the crown to wind it today and after winding 30-40 times and giving it a shake, nothing... I'm assuming it will just have to go in for a service but I'm curious if anyone has experienced this before. Any idea what the problem could be? The crown still winds but feels lighter than usual. Thanks in advance.
Also, any experience with Rolex RSC Toronto? Thanks. |

If winding feels "light" after winding 40 times, your mainspring has broken. A full service will sort it right out.

Also, is there any benefit to servicing through a Rolex AD rather than taking it direct to the RSC? My closest AD is 20 mins away, where the service centre will be over an hour each way. |

Yes, the mainspring if it makes noise when you shake it maybe more. Service time, RSC
will make it as new again. |

Anyhow, a full-service includes mainspring replacement. You're looking in the range of about $1000.00 CAD. Yes, I'd absolutely take it directly to RSC - You're in Toronto so that makes sense. The benefit is actually the other way round'. Won't be nearly as long a wait for your watch to come back to you. The AD route is... annoying to say the least.

Definitely take to RSC or a trusted independent service center. That’s a bummer! Sorry that happened.

Might want to try an independent service center first as it could be significantly less than full service price at Rolex. Especially if the watch was keeping good time prior to the mainspring failure. Unless you want to stick with Rolex factory service.

Take your watch to the RSC, get it looked at by the company who made it and who will give you a 2 year warranty on the service, that is what I would do.

Took it to RSC Toronto earlier this week, and yes, the mainspring was broken. In for full service. Going to be a long 6-8 weeks!
