Oyster Perpetual crazy wait time

I recently discovered the minimalism and élégance of this collection.
I tried to order a 36mm silver dial and was told end of 2025.
It was supposed to be for my birthday next month :-)
What a crazy time we are living in … for a 36 mm …

So crazy, not to mention that the silver dial is the least demanded one (at least in my region) however i find it very appealing

I think 36mm appeals to both men and women, so more demand.

Not surprising that 36mm is tough to get. Like Tim said, it’s a size that some ladies and men like to wear. And the fact that there are quite a few dial colors, getting the OP of your choice can take a while. Many of us appreciate the simplicity of the OP as well. The silver dial is a very unique dial. In person, like the CHNR, it really pops and looks better in my opinion than it does online. Be patient and you will end up with it. Best to you!

My brother's wife got one as a walk in. It was sitting in the display case unspoken for.

You can probably get one on the grey market for under MSRP

They may be giving you the long date as precaution - not sure if the OP is available or your AD offers this but I got my wife a 36MM DJ we ordered it and pre-paid 50% and got it in about 5 months - they told us it could be up to a year.

Not sure how it all works but my AD said there are some models that are available for them to put an order in and request the build - specifically for us in addition to the DJ 36MM we bought they also would have done a YM 37MM with the 50% option.

My strategy would be - develop a relationship with them - check in - if they are close to you. The pop-in can also produce results. Also the more flexibility on dial color for your OP could greatly increase your odds. Then also see if they offer the 50% program on any models you would like. (FYI no Daytona, Sub, GMT . . . Etc. on the 50%)

Hope you get what you want sooner than later - Cheers

36mm is a versatile size, I wouldn't be surprised if it was much in demand. The wait is less than two years and it could turn up a lot quicker.

In the grand scheme of the Rolex collection, that watch should not ever take this long to get regardless how much your spending is at the AD. This tells me your AD is a gate keeper at all levels of Rolex models.
The economy will never be hard enough for a AD to give up this much power.

Can’t you get this model at or below msrp from one of our trusted sellers?

It seems as though OPs are seriously hard to get everywhere, especially in 41mm. The ADs I work with say they rarely, if ever see them. Out of all the Rolex watches in my collection, I don't have an OP. I would think that Rolex would be pumping these out like crazy considering they are the entry point into the world of Rolex and are the least expensive.

Silver dial is not the least demanded color. It’s in the middle. I waited a full year for my 36. It was the first watch I ever requested from my AD. I followed up monthly, and finally got the call. Now I await my 3rd allocation, which should arrive soon. BTW, it really is stunning in person:

Try visiting multiple ADs if not already. I saw one for sale in London Regent Street a few weeks ago.

Nope! Still asking well above retail, whether unworn or used. An unworn Silver 36 seems to be pretty scarce, and asking price is between 8 and 9 grand. MSRP is $6,100.00.

I personally think the silver dial OP is the best of the bunch

I’ve been waiting for one for a while in Silver? In 41 nothing yet?
Keep following up, they may surprise you soon. Best of luck.

Why the OP is so hard to get is beyond me.

Two reasons: It’s relatively affordable, and there are so many different sizes and dial colors.

Yep. Lots of options that can fit a lot of different clients. One of the only options outside of a DJ that you can get colored dials under 10k.
