PM Soon Under MSRP

I keep seeing folks prophesising that PM pieces will soon be available, or already are, below rrp.

Do these folks mean that such pieces obtained 2nd hand and/or via grey will be below rrp, but at the AD rrp will stand - or can we expect AD's actually to slightly discount PM pieces (perhaps other than hot models such as Olive DD's).

That will depend on the watch, the AD and your relationship with the AD. I'm waiting for a 19BLRO. If it arrived this week I doubt if my AD would give a discount, but I always ask. If you don't ask you don't get.

Already seeing some DD40s on the grey market below MSRP. That may be hard for me to ignore next year if I'm able to pull the trigger after sales taxes are taken into account.

I mean maybe the rules are different for extreme VIPs, but just in general I think things would have to get very bad in both the world economy and the watch market for Rolex to sell any watch below MSRP. Rolex in general started cracking down on the practice quite hard even before the pandemic (though some ADs were ignoring that of course).

They can still just bundle a PM with a popular steel model for a willing buyer. I also think they are more likely to start backdooring PMs to grey market like they were doing in the past rather than trying to sell below MSRP to a random walk-in.

No discounts yet on PM models ,especially an oyster-flex Daytona or DD RG olive dial they are in high demand. Also depends on your AD size and your history with them. A smaller AD needs to move inventory.

Always ask? The worst thing they can say is. No

Cheers,
