Best practices for storing your box and papers?

For papers, I put the Certificate of Origin in a letter envelope together with other papers like paper copies of servicing receipts. I put this inside the leather wallet with the watch manual and pamphlets, together with small plastic bags containing pushers, spare links for metal bracelets, etc. I put the leather wallet inside its paper envelope, then put everything in a gallon sized zip lock bag. These all fit in a safety deposit box and are not kept in my home.

For boxes, I leave the wooden box inside its dust bag, and put everything in a paper shopping bag on a shelf. I wonder if you should put everything inside a jumbo zip lock bag, or if the wooden box should not be in such an airtight container.

Watches, boxes and papers are not in the same place.

Just out of curiosity, why don't you keep everything in the same place?

We live in a place where thieves come into homes on occasion. So watches are not stored in a safe, but in containers that are less conspicuous and not in the master walk-in closet. We do have a decoy safe in the walk-in closet.

Papers and bracelet bits are stored separately in an old throwaway satchel. Boxes are stored in various places in the home. Bureaus. Closets. With Costco stuff.

The biggest problem is trying to remember where the various boxes are. I have like five different places for them.
