16710N vs 16710B values

Hello,

I have a 16710N that had its bezel switched to a Pepsi. Does that switch change the value of the watch? Are original Pepsi’s worth more?

I paid a Pepsi market price. Did I overpay because it was originally a black bezel?

Thanks.

Mac

I’m pretty sure that it wasn’t that long ago that they’d sell you any colour you wanted at service. And I’m not really seeing colour affecting price on the 5 digits to the same extent as the 6 digits.

I think yes, yes and yes (although we don't know how much you paid :)).

The value of the watch is also changed by the lack of documents.

Pepsi always seems the hottest on the market. But the beauty of the 16710 is the availability of all 3 inserts. Throw in both bracelet options and you have the full monty.

Many folks (who aren't as well read on Rolex) fall victim to paying a "premium" for the "pepsi".

They're all 16710's at the end of the day, and the inserts are all the same price to acquire by themselves (from RSC) - not to mention, super easy to swap out (even for a novice).

During the "non-SEL" era of the 16710, Rolex warranty paperwork would not specify the insert that the watch originally came with (although Rolex SA had access to this information based on SN, and still does today).

It was only later that the SEL variants (during the last few years of the 5 digit era) that received documentation specifying bezel insert.

In short - there is no real rhyme or reason that 16710's with "pepsi" inserts should be trading at a premium above the LN or "coke". If you're after a later model with paperwork, it's nice to see "numbers matching", so-to-speak. Otherwise, it's irrelevant.
