Wish lists will be open again in some countries

Hi,

There are rumors that AD's In some countries like GCC will start accepting new wish lists for hot Rolex watches begining Sep/ Oct of this year.
Under the new criteria, ADs will be examining long time buyers / collectors who are not flippers, and based on their purchase history and portfolio they will be able to make new requests (wish lists) for watches that are hard to get.

For example, if a client has been dealing with an AD for few years and has already bought few watches like DJ, Sub, etc. he can register for a GMT and so on. The bigger the portfolio the higher the chance to secure the watch.

Rolex will start making more efforts to reward its loyal customers with watches usually not open for wish list, of course this is not going to happen overnight but it is a step in the right direction.

Source? Seeing that a wish list is just a wish list, it doesn't really mean anything imho.

Wish list? This isn’t 2020-2022. The hype is over, COVID-19 stimulus packages are over, NFTs and FXD are over, gray dealers are sober, and crypto bros are broker.

In some places ADs do not even take new orders (wish lists) on certain hot models, it is true that it is not 2020-2022 era but if you are looking to get a SS Daytona and you already have bought few other watches over time, like DJ, Sub, GMT, the AD will put you on a list. It is called a wish list but it won't be an imaginary one and this is the real change.

Again, rumor has it that it is going to be applied in the GCC starting Sep / Oct not sure if other countries / ADs will follow suit.

Or I can circumvent this foolishness, go to a reputable grey dealer and enjoy walking out with the watch the same day, not to mention being treated respectfully like a customer should…

Rolex don't sell their watches to customers, their ADs do and their ADs decide who they sell them to. If Rolex are considering some kind of added value proposition I'll be interested to see what they come up with.

I agree, however Rolex sometimes introduce new guidelines to their ADs. I think Rolex want to maintain the value retention and the status in a market that is facing a downturn by making hot SS avilable to long time loyal customers that won't flip the watch the second they got their hands on hence, the key thing here is clients with long track record. Some ADs might be following this approach already but in certain places like Dubai it is almost impossible to get a SS sport model from the AD.

Again, these are the rumors that I've heard from sources that I consider trusted, but only time will tell.

In other news, water is wet. This is nothing new than how things currently work. I have been on “the list” for years at two different ad’s, I figured out long ago it’s never going to happen so I paid more and bought on the secondary market.

Wish list? More like fantasy list? The AD has the power to sell anything to anyone. Those pieces belong to the AD.

The SA has no power in these matters, if you have a history with the AD or if you are very lucky they will allocate one to you, does not matter which country. There are no lists anywhere. They will either sell to you or not.

They are all playing the we have nothing to sell games, even if the safe is full of watches.
Because it has worked from them so far and will continue to work until the secondary market is below the retail market. Of course there will be certain model that will always sell at a premium. Maybe, if the market slows even more things will change ?

Who knows?

LOL... Rolex does not sell watches to a single "loyal customer", they sell all of their inventory to Dealers, wholesale.. In fact, "Rolex" doesn't even know who you are when you buy a watch, or a dozen.

Dealers already reward their loyal customers.
