I’m also far away - if I were looking at them to have work done, I’d call them and set it up, and head down to Miami/Lauderdale for a little vacation. Maybe even grab a cruise.

Didn’t get delivered today! FEDEX, BOO. Tracker says delivery is tomorrow. Will be posting updates as they check her in, and take her vitals.

Great news of it's arrival. I know it would stress me out knowing my watch is hanging out with FedEx overnight. :)

You may want to inquire about more link(s), as that band will come back quite a bit shorter. Great story and amazing on no service on the movement after 37 years.

Rolliworks will tell you how many you may need after they inspect it.

Here we go gang…
Just love vintage watches with well earned patina.

That $2600 in 1987, adjusted for inflation, is about $7,200 today. Not too bad. But that $2600 was about three of my Florida house payments in that year .

Good luck! Looks like mine. I wore it daily for about 30 years until I got my Daytona. Hasn't been wore in years now though.

From Riviera Beach, would have been a nice drive to Miami for the day, drop off in person, get some Cuban food and coffee, and back home in no time.

INSPECTION from Rolliworks

Finally an update to share from Rollie. Got this email and made my selections. I was surprised by the comment about AM spring bars because my watch has never seen anyone other than my wrist, and has never been serviced — and bought brand new from Ben Bridge. So I honestly don’t know why they would note that in the report. Anyway, I answered the questions and they replied immediately acknowledging my choices.

So here we go, let the doctor begin…

—————

Hi

Apologies for the delay! We consider the arrival date of your watch when we calculate the ETA.

We are aiming for a target date of 10/21/24. This is just a marker not a set date. After all work is complete, we will email an invoice via QuickBooks.

Inspection Notes: Dial - V. Good – Light scratches on hr markers
Hands - V. Good - Light scuffs on hands Bezel - V. Good - Light scratches Bracelet - Good – Scuffs; Some stretch Winding Crown - Good - Normal wear Case - Good – Normal wear (nicks + soft finishes) Crystal - Good - Light scratches- We can polish free of charge Would you like to proceed? YES/NO Memo - Amplitude very low 171; 16s/d slow

BAND Inspection notes: During inspection we found that the spring bars are AM and will damage case. Should we replace? Would you like to proceed? YES/NO

After the band stretch repair is completed, there would be a need of additional 1-2 links to match the original length. We can provide them for you @$175 ea., but maybe you have them?

Please answer the following BAND polishing question:

BAND Polish or No Polish Each band rebuild comes with 30 mins courtesy polish in our polish room at no cost. If you’d like to take advantage of this, please let us know how do you expect the polish to look on a scale of 0-10 (10 being new)

0 = No polish 1-2 = Vintage looking 3-5 = Freshened up a bit but vintage 7 = New-ish 8 to 10 = As new as possible. This becomes a Retail polish at a cost of $250

Please provide us a number between 0 to 10.

Thank you!

I just got my wife’s 16233 back from them. Very nice work, we’re pleased. You should be happy come October. BTW, they beat their estimated time by 2 weeks.

Sounds great! I'd personally go a 7 on the polish (assuming they can guarantee no softening of the lugs). Curious what you go with!

I went for an 8. I can’t’ imagine what a 10 would be, but I’m not too worried about how much metal comes off the watch during a polish. They’re saying this was rated as lightly scratched, and didn’t see anything deep (nor did I), so I doubt it will take much to get it looking new.

Going to be a long 8 weeks.
