Deepsea are no longer part of the Sea-Dweller line
"Sea-Dweller" text has been removed from the JC and black dial DS's.
and the new gold one also does not have any Sea Dweller text The Rolex website has them as two separate, independent models. So the 136660 now has two dial variations, the initial one saying Sea-Dweller, and the new one without. The dial looks less busy and maybe more balanced. It's an interesting change |

I was only paying attention to the DEEPSEA , not the rest of the text. |

We might have to seriously think about re-evaluating our abrieviations going forward.
Maybe i will simply call the new references DS and stick with the old way for all the previous references Or just simply move with the times and go with DS as someone in the other thread suggested. Has this development given you cause to rethink? |

Quite frankly that never occured to me at all, with me having tunnel vision on the 116660 variations. So could it be said that the 136660 is the transition reference with Rolex dropping the flip out diver extention and all? |

And the new ones are simply DS That is accurate Now there will be 136660 DSSD, and 136660 DS |

I hate to disagree and everything, but the 116660 is the original and best After all, the movement and the bracelet/end links are just perfection |

I like the change. I think there are many watches with too much wording on them. Anything that can be removed without taking away certifications or key branding is good to me.

This Said, for me it was Sea Dweller Deepsea, SDDS, so now we have Deepsea, or Rolex Deepsea, RD Never understood why some write it Deep Sea or DeeSea, always referred as Deepsea by Rolex This said again, i’ll always prefer the Sea Dweller Deepseas

I love this change on the black dial variant. Just the word "DEEPSEA" at 6 o'clock really cleans up the dial. I would really love to pick up a 136660, but it's not quite enough of an improvement over the 126660 to justify the premium. Good deals to be had on 126660's these days!
