Lacquer Green Day Date 40mm

Hey there - I’m thinking about picking this model up and would appreciate if any owners have wrist shots that they can share. Would also like your thoughts as an owner on whether you’ve grown tired of the green similar to how some get tired of the sunburst dial on the 116610lv. Im also wondering if people approach you when wearing it as i know it’s a bit flashy.

My wife has it and it’s a wonderful watch. We do not get tired of it in any way

Not an owner of that watch but it’s a great piece that’s very sought after I personally prefer the new green ombré dial on the yellow gold but you can’t go wrong either way

Never get sick of this. It’s probably the most stunning color combination I’ve owned.
Perhaps bold, but amazing nonetheless.

Very nice watch but in a small collection, with a lot of wear, the green dial would get old, to me, very quickly. In a DD I prefer the champagne, white or silver dial as they are more versatile and color neutral.

I would agree with this not being your primary DD. If you have the opportunity for one DD, I also would choose a more classic combination such as gold/silver or gold champagne. Having said that, this green is stunning.

Thanks for the input and pics, I have a choice between the green ombré 40mm that just came out and this one. Seems like the ombre might be more versatile but maybe more dressy because of the darker hue. Since they are both lacquer dials, do you believe both will be future classics or do you think one will be more coveted later on?

Difficult choice between the lacquer green and the green ombré. That solid green and YG looks stunning.

Its just an opinion...But I have been around Rolex for 3 decades. Ombre is beautiful, but there is now a full line up (Blue/Grey/Green) etc....

The green lacquer is where it's at (non-ombre). Also, it's a more limited production. Again, in the end all of us should say buy the one you love and will wear because you love it!

Enjoy whatever you choose.

I purchased the lacquer one for my 40th last year and while it does spend most of its life in the safe, every time I pull it out for a special occasion I can't stop staring at it! Much more depth in the dial than my old 116610LV dial had for sure. Very happy I moved the LV at the height of the craziness and put the funds towards the DayDate.

It’s the one I’m dying for over almost anything else out there. Ahead of a 5740 but behind a LeMans. The diff is it’s the most attainable of the three but that’s not saying much.

I call it the “Rolex manager watch” or “Rolex superhero watch”

Because it appears as if you just walked out of the green Rolex and gold lettering store displays
