I have a 326934 (black dial, Oyster bracelet) and a 336938 (intense white dial, Oyster bracelet). Yes they are big watches, but I love their presence and feel.

The only thing I've never liked about the SkyDweller is how the cyclops overlaps the 24 hour ring. I'm a big fan of the cyclops on Rolexes in general, but on the SkyDweller it always looks like a bit of an afterthought somehow. In fact, I've always thought the whole date window arrangement looks a bit awkward on what is an otherwise fantastic watch.

I'd love Rolex to find a way of showing the date around the edge of the dial via a centrally mounted hand (like in a Valjoux 7751). That'd be much nicer for dial symmetry IMO..., although it would mean both date and month displayed around the edge of the dial.

The Sky-Dweller is it what it is, like it’s always been. It’s how it’s supposed to be. I’d rather appreciate it for what it is than keep wishing for something else. YMMV.

A size increase to 44-45mm will fix that!

Oddly, I've never noticed it. Well, I'm sure I have but it just didn't register because it's a non functional area that doesn't need to be visible and my brain kind of looked past it.

Compared to my other Rolex watches with a date window, the disk of the Sky Dweller is more recessed because of the layers of complications. Getting the date lit and the cyclops to project it will have takes some maths and physics. At 42mm, a circular date scale around the dial would make the dial look very busy what with the month also being in the vicinity, not to mention the loss of the Classic Line aesthetic, which is obviously important to Rolex for the Sky Dweller.

I really love the complication and it’s a beautiful piece. The annual calendar is ingenious and it’s great that it’s also a symmetrical dial.

I went to try it on again today. It’s just way too big for me. Diameter and thickness

I don’t feel like an update would be coming since there were some recent changes. I like tha larger scale compared to the other models I have. A bit more wrist presence is fine with me. Then again I also have Panerai in the collection.

I sold mine because it was too thick. I had the white one which is the pick of the bunch. Way nicer than blue.
Honestly I think it’s a bit obtrusive and in your face. The best releases in the last few years are the OF gold Daytonas and the OF gold Yachtmaster. Pure class and understated.

I can’t see this watch being able to come in under 42mm due to the complications on the dial and legibility. The case curvature actually makes it wear better than one would think.

A reduction in thickness is about all you can hope for…12mm would be superb.

Ditto here, same watch and same feelings. With the size and oversized fluted bezel it's a little too much on the side of obnoxious for comfort.

Based on Rolex development history for various models, case sizes have not decreased. If anything changed, they increased in size.

I own a black dial (336933) and 99% of the time when I glance at the watch, I don’t see the 24 hours indicator nor the month indicator. I can read the time very clearly thanks to the XL sized hour minute hands and the XLsize+clear date display. In other words, it is a just another Datejust but in XL size. The annual calendar + GMT complications are all hidden away until you really take a closer look. I think SkyDweller a masterpiece from Rolex..

BTW someone mentioned the crown stem wobbly.. it’s not true on my 3369xx model. Mine is very solid.

I agree. While I’m a big Daytona/OF fan, too, I love the SKYD I have and have loved the two others I’ve owned. It’s not made for the small wrist. But for those of us with larger wrists — mine is 7-1/2” — it’s very comfortable. Even the RG reference I have, for me, is not too heavy, though I have and like heavier watches. (I wear the Platona and the meteorite GMT, too.)

I also agree that the movement design is just ingenious — the active bezel, the use of the indices for the month indicator, the subtle GMT subdial, the bidirectional date wheel, etc.

But this is all personal preference stuff we’re talking about, of course.
