Trying to buy Starbucks in Bahamas

This whole dance with the AD’s gets more and more frustrating. I’m working with 2 AD’s trying to get a skydweller back home (Outside Philly).

There’s and AD at the Grand Hyatt in staying at in Bahamar Bahamas. They have a Starbucks and multiple black sub dates.

They hinted that if I came by multiple
Times they might consider selling to me. I’m on my second to last day now. The Schpeel is “you need to get on our list. Communicate with us twice a month via email. Then when your watch comes in, if you’re willing to fly back we’ll sell it to you”.

Any tips on changing their mind? I’d LOVE to grab this Starbucks while I’m here. It would be a great piece to add to my (2 so far) collection. Especially knowing the wait for a skydweller may be years. IMG_0491.jpg

Trying to buy Starbucks in Bahamas

I was there earlier in the year. A friend went in a million times during our one week long stay. in the last day they did sell him a watch (Explorer). Boy, did he work for that watch! same old crap, but he took the watch with him. No shipping abroad.

Coffee and donuts for staff in the morning? Talk to the manager directly? Go for it worth a try.

Why would you need to ‘come by multiple times’ and communicate with them twice a month if you’re not going to buy anything else?

Jeez, it feels like they must laugh their asses off after hours at the hoops they can make people jump through!

They must do. Agreed. But it did work with my friend. That's their little mind game I guess. They sold it to him at the very last minute. Clearly cruel jokers.

At least he had the last laugh.

I get that it must be tough for some of these guys, having little to no stock to sell in recent years, but I have come across a couple where it really felt like they’d been given the keys to the gold!

Rob - I sincerely hope you do get to score that LV before the end of your trip. If you do - just as you’re leaving tell ‘em you’re going to flip it!

Sounds like a classic AD game, and you're right—it can get frustrating. To shift their mindset, you could try this approach when you visit:

Listen, I completely get the list process, and I’m more than willing to stay in touch, but since I’m here now and the stars have aligned with this Starbucks in stock, I’d love to walk out with it today. It would be a perfect addition to my collection, and I’d be more than happy to build a long-term relationship with you for future pieces.

The key is showing interest in a lasting relationship while being assertive that you're ready to buy now. It might just tip the scales!

Agreed. Nothing wrong with checking in if it’s not a long process but i wouldn’t expect much. I would find a new AD at home.

To have to “come by multiple times” is taking the p out of you. Why would you do that and fly back - at considerable cost in time and money - for a watch that’s over retail but not stupidly so?

These ADs know it’s over but they’ll keep mugging customers for as long as they can. Don’t be complicit.

Say to them either sell it now or don’t but if not “goodbye”.

I bet in 2/3 years they’d love an extra repeat client in the books…

I just scored an LV from an AD in state that I have only visited 3-4 times prior. Wait time on it was about 6 months or so.

I'd give up and enjoy your vacation if I were you. I feel like they're all but telling you "no."

The premium on the secondary market is inching closer and closer to retail on this one to where I bet it would be worth just going grey market soon and keeping your dignity.

Appreciate all these answers.

We literally pass it each time we go to/from our room so it’s not costing much time. I’ll pop in once more today and once tomorrow.

I like the coffee idea too! And LOVE the “hey I’m gonna flip it” as I’m walking out if I do snag it!

I do not think these people care about long term clients. The days where they have more stock than demand are still years away, if ever again. Rolex sees this control they have and I feel they enjoy it.

The chase DOES make me appreciate what I have even more though.

My thoughts too. Sounds like abuse for their amusement. I wouldn't bother with them.

i mean it's a giant resort full of well off people, there are probably tons of others like the OP who are doing the same thing every day and requesting the same 5 watches. no matter how the AD chooses to sell the watch it will be unfair. i genuinely wonder how you guys would pick a person to sell to if you got hundreds of requests a week for the same watches
