White gold day date 40

Thinking about adding a day date 40 to the collection. I don’t like the Roman dials not the diamond dials, so it looks like black or slate for me. I missed what looked like a really nice slate example at Nashville Watch for well under 40k. Most of the examples that are nearly new are near retail. I recently bought a two tone datejust for the wife from the AD and was looking to add a Batgirl (or Daytona, HA) to go with my Pepsi for my upcoming birthday.

Do you think going grey would be best or do you think a WG DD may be available at a discount at an AD?

No discounts on Rolex anymore. I remember pre Covid DD40s went for $28k. Damn missed that boat

I want a dd40 white gold too. One day. Don’t rule out the DD40 Romans. I don’t like Romans on any other watches either but on DD40s they glimmer so nice and are totally unique to any other watch on the market
My dad’s DD40 yellow Romans. I want to trade in the DJ41 I never wear for a meteorite dial or Blue Ombré in white gold 40mm

I know you said no diamond dial but for WG DD40 I'd go with the meteorite dial

I'd look for a discount through a trusted seller.
You can likely get one from an AD but likely at retail plus tax.

It never hurts to ask and an AD might do it. More than likely not. Check the Trusted Sellers websites and make a few calls. Not a difficult watch to find or source.

Even given today's improved marketplace for availability, even the D-D is not an easy find at an AD. WG seems to be more availalbe and lower prcie, of course, but I would not expect any discount from an AD. Still too much demand relatvie to supply....

Plenty of solid grey options, though they tend to price at or around MSRP. Still a savings when sales tax is factored in.

I had the WG DD40 black stick dial that I dailied for a year recently, and loved it. Stealth wealth, presi bracelet is amazing, just enough style without being in your face. For whatever reason I couldn't jibe with the admittedly classic fluted bezel, that just made it a touch too flashy for me wishing there could have been a smooth option...

Picking up a WG Daytona soon but strongly considered another WG DD40, it's great

White gold can be had at 40 and u see and platinum is starting to fall and would really recommend platinumunless going for the yellow green.

Platinum would be great, but the value proposition seems a little out of whack for me vs the white gold. Yellow gold is a little too in your face for me.

My gut says this is the answer. Watch the trusted sellers and pull the trigger when I find another.

Not a particularly a fan of Romans either, but man, the deconstructed ones on the DD are another story...the way they interact with and complement the fluted bezel is just magic. I wouldn't rule them out.

TBH, the other ones just look like DJ's. My two cents.

The roman numerals on the DD40 are something else - love them
