Rainbow in Vegas

Was in Vegas this week and watches of Switzerland had a rainbow. They were asking $550,000 and was super cool to see in real life. Had some other off catalog gem pieces also. Staff were friendly and loads of great new and used watches. Just thought I would share.

That is a chunk of money but with all the cash that passes through Vegas I thought someone would have been tempted

I was surprised with the number of used sports models. Between them and bucherer, multiple Daytona black and white steel, oysetrflex, and platinum, as well as Batman, Pepsi, subs etc. some nice pateks also.

Surprised? Remember Vegas has loads more losers than winners! I’m guessing they have little to no trouble getting used pieces.

Speaking for myself would not buy the rainbow Daytona if it was $1 .

My wife loves the Rainbow Daytona, her fave of various off-catalog timepieces... and we did have the opportunity to.... alas, my wallet says OP Celebration. My fave is the DD Love / Puzzle dial, through it's been a tough year.

About ten years ago I saw the GMT-Ice at a Rolex Boutique in Vegas. Tried it on. Pretty nuts.

The Rainbow and that GMT Ice would be lucky to stay on your wrist a day. Not for me !

It’s so ugly, vulgar and grossly ostentatious…so why do I want one?!

It 'inspires' my wife, she loves it. Maybe it inspires you too?

7-10 years ago I went to Vegas a few times in quick succession and this sort of GMT were in the windows for sale , great memories , I tried some iced out models in the Caesar’s AD, I also remember looking at the leopard Daytona. I never see these exotic models in the UK ADs.

Yep! The Ice was in their window display! I was in town for the JCK jewelry show and at the time I was the Rolex specialist at the AD where I used to work. Never thinking I'd ever see the GMT Ice in person, I couldn't help but stop in and ask to try it on. The SA was a super nice guy and even let me take a few photos of it.

I'd probably buy one at MSRP on a stainless. I've grown from my lower class upbringing... but not that far.
